Culture club! Easy Art Space livens up busy Buda transport hub, Széll Kálmán tér

A nice little row of bars has started to form on one side of Széll Kálmán tér, towards Szilágyi Erzsébet fasor. The first place was Nemdebár, which opened more than ten years ago, and which stood on its own for a long time, and then, after the relandscaping of the square, came 101BISTRO and Pingrumba. Now there's Easy Art Space. Others have tried here – hopefully Easy will meet with success, as it’s a really nice spot.

Easy opened at the end of 2021 and kept a low profile for a while, only opening at weekends. Now that the terrace is open and an inner garden will soon be ready, there's a buzz most days. At weekends, the party pretty much goes on until there’s still someone here. The terrace and garden close at 10pm.

The art and space in the venue name are not just used because they sound good, they also have a meaning. Easy is a community space that focuses on the arts, but you can also drink, eat and chat, which means that the place works well as a relaxed bar and café. 

The interior consists of two areas: the bar also functions as a gallery, where exhibitions are held, while live music is staged in the back room. The main focus is electronica, from deep house to triphop, but they’ve hosted rock and a jazz night is also planned. You also find the dance floor here.

With the terrace now in operation, Easy will complete the final touches with an inner garden, due to open in a few days. Of course, the place is still cosy , with sensible prices.

When there was only Nemdebár, you could pencil in Széll Kálmán tér as a possible destination for a night out. Now it’s a firm date in the diary.
