Leon Café
The matcha selection at Leon Café is the result of a collaboration with Madrid's Jade Matcha Gallery, with ceremonial-grade matcha sourced directly from the Spanish matcha specialist. The fruit purées are also freshly made in-house. Alongside the drinks, one of this summer's highlights is the matcha soft serve, offering a playful take on the distinctive green tea flavour. Options include vanilla ice cream topped with a fresh matcha shot, a matcha-flavoured version, a variety of toppings, and a combination inspired by the café's signature raspberry iced matcha latte. The summer menu also features matcha spritzes and iced lattes.

Yeque Chinese Room
At Yeque Chinese Room, a bar inspired by Chinese drinking culture, matcha takes centre stage not on its own, but as part of an imaginative, layered cocktail. The Xīhú Méiyǒu Dà'àn is made with homemade jasmine tea, jasmine syrup, melon liqueur, coconut water and matcha, and comes served in an authentic patterned glass. The matcha's distinctive earthy character comes through clearly, softened by fragrant jasmine and subtle fruity notes. It's a great choice for anyone who likes their cocktails tea-forward, floral and complex.

Okūma – Tea House & Social Club
Okūma, tucked away on Vörösmarty Street, is more than just a teahouse: its concept centres around slowing down, being present and sharing the experience of a traditional tea ceremony. Its matcha selection features two distinctive varieties. Gokou matcha has a softer, creamier profile with gently sweet, green notes, while Samidori is deeper and richer, with pronounced umami flavours. Two Japanese matchas, two very different profiles - making this a great place to discover just how much the variety of tea can shape the final cup. Advance booking is required.

Lucha Matcha
At Lucha Matcha, the team works with its own ceremonial-grade matcha sourced from Uji, Kyoto, alongside classic matcha drinks, seasonal specials, Japanese cheesecake and speciality coffee. What really sets the place apart, though, is its selection of matcha cocktails, bringing together Japanese tea and mixology. There's a matcha Pornstar Martini, a matcha Amaretto Sour, the tequila, basil and lychee Lucha Matcha Signature, and even a matcha twist on the classic Mojito. For something alcohol-free and refreshing, options include a rosé matcha tonic, as well as yuzu-lychee, mango-passion fruit and peach-lemon matcha drinks.

Begi Bakery
Begi on Andrássy Avenue is a colourful, playful Korean café where drinks share the spotlight with eye-catching cakes and desserts. Its signature matcha creations are often paired with something sweet, with the jasmine matcha and crêpe cake combination among the standouts. Other options worth trying include Viennese-style matcha with sponge cake, or fruity strawberry and mango matchas paired with Basque cheesecake. A new addition for summer is matcha bingsu, a fun Asian shaved-ice dessert and a particularly refreshing way to get your matcha fix.

Matchy35°
One of the newer matcha spots around Corvin, Matchy35° is tucked away on Nagy Templom Street and opened as part of the second Little Geisha Can Cook location, while operating as a concept of its own. As the name suggests, matcha is very much the star here, with matcha cheesecake, Swiss roll and homemade mochi all prepared in-house. The drinks go well beyond the classic latte too, with options such as yuzu matcha soda and a Biscoff matcha. The signature selection also includes a blue butterfly pea and purple taro cloud creation, as well as pistachio and coconut versions, making matcha here as much a visual experience as a culinary one.
