A star cast of Jason Momoa, Oscar Isaac, Timothée Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem and RebeccaFerguson all came to Budapest this spring for the latest adaptation of Dune. Director Denis Villeneuve has filmed here before – for Blade Runner 2049 in 2016. The director and Chalamet were also photographed by a blogger in a cafe on Andrássy út. Chalamet also visited the City Park and posted a photo of Vajdahunyad Castle on Instagram.

Jason Momoa caused a stir on his Instagram page about his adventures in Budapest, posted a video of St Stephen's Basilica and Parliament, and knocked back a dark beer in a bar. With Oscar Isaac, they showed up at an Al Di Meola concert at MOMKult and after the gig played guitar with the legendary musician.
The new film by Oscar-nominated Ildikó Enyedi, The Story of My Wife, was also produced here this summer, with Léa Seydoux (The Grand Budapest Hotel) in the starring role. For some scenes, Budapest doubled up as Paris.

In June, Scarlett Johansson came to Budapest to film Marvel movie Black Widow, and in July Eva Longoria followed: the Desperate Housewives star came to film an advert for L'Oréal.

Luke Evans (The Girl on the Train) has been to Hungary several times, and in October, he took part in a video shoot in Budapest, where took in the Joker movie at the Corvin cinema. During his visit, he also filmed by the fountain on Egyetem tér, worked out at a gym and shared a selfie with a We Love Budapest reader at a local bar.
In the summer, the Stark Sisters from Game of the Thrones arrived in Budapest, not for filming, but for fun. Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, alias Sansa and Arya, took part in a girls-only bar crawl, and then soaked off their hangovers at the Széchenyi baths.
Model/actress Amber Heard also spent a little free time in Budapest, posting a picture of herself sitting in the tub of the Szimpla Kert on Instagram.

Will Smith had himself a whale of a time here in 2018 when he climbed the Chain Bridge, but that didn't stop him from returning to the Hungarian capital in 2019. In September, he travelled to Budapest for the premiere of Gemini Man filmed here, celebrated his 51st birthday and even held a surprise concert in front of the Basilica.
While filming the TV mini-series North Water in Budapest, a very bearded Colin Farrell popped into a kebab outlet and was only recognised when he paid for his feast by credit card.

Of course, any number of music stars passed through Budapest this year: Iggy Pop, Bryan Adams, Sting and SinéadO'Connor. Sziget headliner Ed Sheeran was especially active here, working with the Csodalámpa Foundation to meet two sick children behind the scenes, and hooking up with Hungarian rapper Márk Járai of Halott Pénz.
Of all the Sziget stars to visit, perhaps the most revered was UK primatologist Jane Goodall, who made a personal appearance then took time to plant trees on Sas Hill.
