There are always so many happenings to choose from in Budapest – exhibitions, parties, live music, festivals and more – but here is our pick of the bunch:

Friday

4:15pm: 25th Titanic International Film Festival at various venues

Between April 4th and 13th, the Titanic International Film Festival brings the best of the world in film to Budapest. Titanic specializes in features not yet distributed in Hungary or which will be available only later, balancing arthouse with mainstream. This weekend you can watch motion pictures from Iceland such as The Oath and Out Of Thin Air, Xavier Dolan's Heartbeats and the Belgian Let the Corpses Tan. More details

9am - 6pm: Cinemira International Children's Film Festival at Akvárium Klub

Between Friday and Sunday, central Akvárium Klub will be home to an international film festival organized especially for kids. Altogether 91 films from documentaries to animations to short films from 34 countries will be screened, most of them are English-friendly, screened with subtitles or original audio.

9am - 9pm: VinCE Budapest Wine Show at the Castle Garden Bazaar

Between April 5th and 7th, Budapest’s beautiful Castle Garden Bazaar fills with top tipples from Hungary and Central Europe. Altogether 160 exhibitors showcase their best wines, while various kinds of pálinka brandies can also be sampled.

5pm - Akvárium Spring Terrace at Akvárium Klub

A warm spring evening, a glass of wine in hand, a group of friends or your special someone and an acoustic alfresco gig in the heart of Budapest. What could sound better? Akvárium Klub on Erzsébet tér presents a special free event series for the month of April – between 1st and 22nd – and shakes up spring evenings with acoustic shows by popular Hungarian musicians and up-and-coming artists.

8pm - : Louise Lecavalier: Battleground at Trafó

Louise Lecavalier explores new territory in Battleground. This breathtaking solo and duet dance is inspired by two Italo Calvino characters, the non-existent knight and his squire. The stage is a fight ring and an experimental space where a thousand battles, ephemeral or significant take place, where heroes and antiheroes and their dreams and disillusions clash in this mindblowing and unclassifiable performance.

Saturday

8am - 2pm: Czakó Piacz at Czakó Kert

farmers’ market full of friendly vendors awaits visitors in the lovely garden of an old Hungarian peasant house, bringing the atmosphere of the countryside to Budapest. Stalls offer organic products, vegetables, eggs, mouthwatering meats, handcrafted cheeses, wild mushrooms and countless unique specialties that are not available elsewhere in the capital. The chef at Czakó Kert prepares breakfast and lunchfrom the delicacies available here while the market is open.

10am - Bike Weekend at the Hungarian Railway Park

See the coolest bikes and accessories of the season, chat to other bikers and try out trendy two-wheelers at the Hungarian Railway Park on Saturday and Sunday. Everything will be about bikes here, and exciting events entertain little ones.

11am - Sakura Celebration at the ELTE Botanical Garden

The Sakura celebration is a traditional annual event at the 200-year-old Botanical Garden of the Eötvös Loránd University, connected to the blooming of Japanese cherry trees in April, and the traditional Japanese celebration, the Hanami. At this time, when the cherry trees blossom at the botanical garden, visitors follow the Japanese tradition and have picnics on blankets amid the garden’s aromatic scene, admiring the blooming Sakura trees. ELTE’s Füvészkert awaits visitors on Saturday and Sunday this weekend with cooking workshops, board games, dance performances, reiki sessions, music and martial arts shows.

5:30pm - 7:15pm: Edward Scissorhands at the Bem Cinema

Who doesn't love Edward Scissorhands? He is lovely, gentle, kind and just a little clumsy... Edward is an animated human being designed by a scientist who unfortunately dies before he can finish assembling Edward, leaving the young man with a freakish appearance a little accentuated by the scissor blades he has instead of hands. One day, a loving suburban saleswoman discovers Edward and takes him home, where he falls for Peg's teen daughter (Winona Ryder). Tim Burton's romantic dark fantasy screens with original English audio and Hungarian subtitles.

Sunday

8am - 1pm: Yoga Brunch at the Rudas Bath

Start your Sunday with a yoga session while enjoying wonderful views of the city through huge glass windows. Rudas Bath awaits everyone with a 60-minute yoga class, and a hearty and healthy brunch as a reward afterwards. Please bear in mind that registration is necessary (yogabrunchbudapest@gmail.com) and there is only a limited number of mats, so it is best to bring your own. Namaste!

10am - 6pm: WAMP Design Fair at Három Holló Café

Before returning to buzzing Erzsébet tér for the spring and summer season, Budapest's favorite design fair sets up at the Három Holló Café on Sunday. Countless clothes, bags, accessories and a bunch of stunning small-batch items from popular and up and coming designers await fashionistas.

9pm – : Szimpla Jam at Szimpla Kert

On Sunday night, a group of music enthusiasts gathers at Budapest’s beloved Szimpla Kert, combining a myriad of genres while improvising music together. Professional amplifiers are provided, so all you have to do is bring your instrument and a good mood to join the late-night jam session.Show off your self-written songs while vamping on tunes with other guitar heroes.
