We popped on our safety helmets and looked around at the National Athletics Centre. The stadium is getting into shape for the World Athletics Championships 2023, kicking off on August 19th. It is the biggest sports event in Hungary this year and a buzzing time to schedule a holiday in Budapest.
Between 19-27 August, Budapest is hosting the World Athletics Championships 2023, the biggest sports event in Hungary. Its home, the National Athletics Centre, is still a construction site, with only a few weeks to go until it is complete. We had the chance to take a guided walk around and peek into spaces strictly reserved for athletes during the championships. The stadium can host 35 000 people, and although it is built primarily for the event, it will turn into a leisure park (open to the public) after the championships.
