Be the first in line for mulled wine at Budapest Christmas markets

It is officially Christmas market season! On November 18th two of Budapest's biggest and most stunning fairs are reopening. Head to Vörösmarty Square or the Basilica to immerse yourself in the early Christmas spirit, sparked by gospel singers, light shows, gigantic Christmas trees, chimney cake, hot chocolate and other festive goodies.

Treasure hunt at MOME Second-hand Clothing Fair
 
Grab your inner eco-warrior and take it to the 12th district for a fun-filled treasure hunt! MOME Student Hub's Second-hand Clothing Fair will be all about sustainability: everything you'll see will have come from someone else's wardrobe. If you can't make it on Friday, we have some good news: they will be open on Saturday as well.

Catch a movie classic at Bem Cinema
 
Bem Cinema only screens all-time favourites, with original audio and subtitles. This Friday they will up their game as they put Corpse Bride and Django Unchained on the big screen after one another. Both will be in English with Hungarian subtitles.

Indulge in a goose feast at ÉS Bisztró
 
Hungarians commemorate one of their patron saints, St Martin by eating goose. Although, the official day is November 11th, stylish downtown restaurant ÉS Bisztró extended its special offer until the end of the month. There are mouthwatering dishes listed on the blackboard such as Smoked goose liver with quince chutney, shallots and walnut breadPulled duck with pumpkin chutney and waffle or Rosé goose breast with pumpkin, Brussels sprouts, chestnut and grape juice.

Join special concerts at Miller Budapest Essentials

A cool urban festival, which is here to raise the concept of partying. Join special parties and concerts at special venues (such as the Museum of Ethnograpy) for 3 days straight, between 17-19 November. Headliners include Greg Wilson, Beardyman and YOUNGR from the UK, Saro from France or Yubik from Germany. Hungarian artists are performing too, such as Random Trip, House Piknik or Be Massive Horizon.

Skate on Budapest's biggest alfresco rink

City Park Ice Rink is officially open and you can be among the first ones to try it. Being just a few steps away from Heroes' Square and Vajdahunyad Castle, the setting could not be more idyllic. And did we mention that you can get mulled wine or hot tea as well? Come with children or your date, a fun afternoon is definitely on the cards. 

Paint along with your little one at this playful workshop

A fun-filled event for your inner and real child! Unleash your imagination and create something special together, following the lead of artist Alexandra Hegedűs. Participants will be able to assemble their own mini-compositions of "fake" brushstrokes using the artist's pre-cut templates.

Shop Hungarian brands at JAF Designer pop-up Fair

On Saturday (and Sunday), eleven Hungarian brands (such as Anna Daubner and DAIGE) will showcase their pieces at a downtown pop-up store, only a stone throw's away from the Parliament. Exceptional discounts, bestsellers, new collections and unique samples are going to be involved.

Anna Katalin Lovrity's The Lost Scoop of Icecream exhibition is opening on November 18th, but will be on for more than 2 weeks. The artist, who is the co-founder of Kirakós and what the rug, brings a selection of her favourite pictures, original collages, and rugs to K11. We know one thing for sure: the pieces will be as playful in shapes and colours as the exhibition is in its name.

Come Together with The Bits
 
A concert to all the Beatles fans out there! The Bits is a Beatles tribute band, which is also approaching its 10th birthday. Therefore their upcoming concert is going to be a very special one. Why? For starters, they will play every single song from Rubber Soul and Revolver.

Sunday is for Farmers' Market

Rosehip is going to be the star at Czakó Kert's weekly Farmers' Market this Sunday as jam is being made out of it on the spot. So you will have one more thing to pop into your shopping basket, right next to the goats’ cheese, organic fruit and veggies and smoked meats. 

Get to know Hungarian inventions at this interactive exhibition

Millenáris offers an exciting activity to the whole family. Its ongoing exhibition, called Dreamers of Dreams 20 – World-Renowned Hungarian Inventions, celebrates Hungarian inventions contributing to scientific milestones. Inventions of nearly 600 Hungarian geniuses are highlighted, all this in an interactive way.

Take a stroll through stunning light installations

Lumina Park is a spectacular travelling light exhibition, which has recently took over Margaret Island's Palatinus Baths. Though the Park is not specifically Christmas-themed, it will definitely put you in the mood with its special light and sound-filled fairytale land.

Join Yoga Brunch's cleansing practice in Sóker Salt Cave and enjoy the salt spray helping your breathing. In this special yoga class energising flow meets stretching yin poses. The session ends with deep relaxation, accompanied by calming sounds. All levels are welcome.
