10am - : Budapest Classics Film Marathon at various venues
The third Budapest Classics Film Marathon takes place from 4 to 11 September. Over eight days, you can enjoy almost a hundred restored classic films at various cinemas around Budapest, as well as outside St. Stephen's Basilica under open skies. Star guest will be composer Michael Nyman, who wrote the score for seminal silent movie, Man With a Movie Camera. More details
2pm - : Budapest Wine Festival at Buda Castle
Visitors to Budapest’s biggest and most scenic wine festival – held on the grounds of Buda Castle – can discover Hungary’s different wine regions and finest reds, whites and rosés between 5-8 September. Food and performances make the event complete.
4pm - : Corvin Beer Festival at the Corvin Promenade
From Wednesday, the Corvin Promenade by the mall at Corvin Quarter will fill with all kinds of seductive suds for five days. Visitors can taste almost 100 kinds of draught and bottled beers including IPAs, EPAs, APAs, specially spiced and fruity drinks, as well as lagers.
Friday
Noon - : Food Truck Show Budapest at Kincsem Park
This amazing alfresco food fair runs from 6-8 September at Kincsem Park racecourse, gathering most of Hungary’s street-food trucks in one place. Juicy burgers, hearty and heavenly sausages, vegan bites, cold beer and many other street-food treats await over the three days. Street artists, musicians, greyhound and horse races, colourful markets and children’s attractions also feature at thisgastro festival. On opening day, Friday, entry is free.
8pm - : Weval at A38 Ship
After a season of festival gigs, the most exciting crossover electronica duo from The Netherlands, Weval rock the boat on Friday night at their first club concert in Hungary.
11pm - 5am: ULTRA 80'S 90'S DISCO - Dancing Queen Edition at VOLT Lokál
Disco and popgasm with the greatest hits of the '80s and '90s at VOLT Lokál on Friday night. Don the jean on jean or your leopard-and-pink outfit and shake it to the trashy songs we all secretly love.
Saturday
10am - : Autumn Etyek Picnic in Etyek
This adorable bijou village hosts homely picnics four times a year, presenting top wines and gastronomic treasures typical of each season. The autumn picnic, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, welcomes visitors with delicious wines, tasty dishes, family activities, outdoor cooking and fantastic folk concerts. Guests can stroll the unpaved roads of Újhegy, popping into various cellars to sample distinctive tipples, amid the musty aroma of oak barrels and the tantalising bouquet of wine.
10am - 10pm: CityMatiné Summer Closing at Palatinus lido
The pioneer of daytime parties, CityMatiné bids farewell to summer on Saturday. The open-air event series takes place at the Palatinus lido, awaiting visitors with DJs, cool drinks and a fantastic festival atmosphere.
5pm - : Star Wars Marathon at the Bem Cinema
You can cosy up Jabba-style with heaps of popcorn and snacks on Saturday afternoon at the arthouse Bem Cinema, as the classic trilogy screens with original English audio and Hungarian subtitles.
7pm - : Notting Hill at the Budapest Rooftop Cinema
Nothing much to be said, one of the best rom-coms of all time screens in English with Hungarian subtitles above Budapest on Saturday evening...
Sunday
8am - : Wizz Air Half Marathon from/to Pázmány Péter sétány
On Sunday, you can complete ahalf marathon alongside thousands of other eager athletes while enjoying Budapest’s splendid scenery along the way. The Wizz Air Half Marathon is the biggest in Central Europe, providing an opportunity for athletes to admire Buda Castle, Parliament and the panorama of Pest and Buda while getting some invigorating exercise. 11am – : WAMP Design Fair at Erzsébet tér
WAMP is a regular community event and design fair, a meeting place for creative and trendsetting young talent. The largest market of its kind in Hungary, WAMP features clothes, jewellery, items of interior design, stationery, accessories and much more. This will be the last outdoor market of the season on central Erzsébet tér.
7pm – : First Steps at the Erkel Theatre
A chance to see this three-act ballet performance which is running for five nights at the Erkel Theatre. Music by Ravel, Steve Reich and Erik Satie accompanies challenging choreography created by Dutch legend Hans van Manen and Swede Johan Inger, who has worked with some of the most renowned companies in the world. The show also represents the opening of the autumn season for the Hungarian National Ballet.
