“We would like to produce distinct city-branding campaigns that make Budapest more attractive to LGBTQ travellers,” says Zsolt Erdei, president of the newly founded Humen Travel Tourist Association and founder of Humen Media Hungary, providing marketing communication for the LGBTQ community.
The video comes in the wake of several other global promotions specifically focused on Budapest as a leading destination of the moment.
But Humen Media’s Budapest Loves You project is the first significant international campaign aimed at LGBTQ visitors. “We need to identify the individual needs and design a platform to provide quality services that members of this community require,” adds Erdei. “In the year ahead, our aim is to put Budapest as a tourist destination on the world’s LGBTQ map.”
The two-minute movie presents a group of gay friends making the most of their Budapest trip. The film is fronted by three fashion models, including the Chinese Elzat Paizula, Roger Meijas from Venezuela and Hungarian Tamás György. The video presents scenes of the trio eating out at Hilda, taking selfies in front of St. Stephen’s Basilica, sunbathing at the Gellért Baths, browsing around the Great Market Hall, taking a Trabant to to visit Memento Park and posing in front of the Budapest Eye.
Humen Media Hungary has been working for many years towards promoting Budapest for LGBTQ travellers. Part of this endeavour is the Pink Budapest Guide, available in a biannual print version and online, regularly updated in English, French, German and Spanish.
This new filmic undertaking is just the first step in a widespread LGBTQ campaign. For the Pink Budapest project, journalists from leading European and American LGBTQ magazines are invited to join a four-days press tour to Hungary's capital and experience what the city has to offer for the community as a whole.
