If you are a die-hard vegan or just curious about what various kinds of meat-free meals taste like, head to the rooftop terrace of WestEnd City Center during Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Milk-free ice-cream, vegan burgers, hot dogs, cheese alternatives, hearty raw eats, and succulent superfoods provide insight into a meat-free lifestyle.
2pm - 11pm: Budapest Wine Festival at the Buda Castle
Visitors to Budapest’s most scenic wine festival – held on the Buda Castle grounds – can discover Hungary’s different wine regions and the country’s finest glasses of reds, whites, and rosés from Friday through Sunday. Furthermore, visitors will be able to feast on traditional festival dishes, and match gourmet specialties to their mood and wine here amid live music and a picturesque panorama.
2pm - 11pm: Transylvanicum Festival at the Nehru Shore
The three-day event awaits visitors with traditional Transylvanian flavors, dance ensembles, a craft fair, cultural programs, premium Transylvanian produce, and many exciting performances at the Nehru Shore, located next to Bálna Budapest between Friday and Sunday.
6pm - 5am: Paul Kalkbrenner Live at Budapest Park
Berlin-based electronic-music producer Paul Kalkbrenner is considered as more of a live act than a DJ, as he often breaks down his tracks into elements that are then reassembled onstage. On Friday night, Kalkbrenner blows up Budapest Park with an amazing live gig
11pm - 6am: Crime V at Müszi
Unfortunately, Müszi, a truly cool community center that constantly hosts community activities, public art and social events, workshops, parties and concerts in the Corvin Department Store has to close its gates for good. To go out with a blase, they throw a farewell party here on Friday shaken up with techno tunes and delicious drinks.
Saturday

9am - 10pm: Örkény Garden at Madách Square
To announce the start of the new season with style, the Örkény Theater turns Madách Square into a green oasis for one day, filled with plenty of exciting programs. Artificial grass will cover the square to become the venue of morning yoga, Hungarian performances, and concerts all day long.
10am - 6pm: Fair of Hungarian Flavors at Várkert Bazaar
On Saturday and Sunday, mouthwatering aromas fill a truly scenic setting, Budapest’s Várkert Bazaar. A wide assortment of locally made products like delicious jams, vegetable spreads, mushrooms, honeys, sweets, fruits, pastas, spices, meat, fish, wine, and pálinkas await visitors, who also have a chance to browse the intriguing items of local craftsmen. Entry to the festival is free.
10am - 6pm: World Fencing Day at the National Museum
On the occasion of World Fencing Day, nearly 500 people face off on the steps and in the garden of the Hungarian National Museum on Saturday. In addition to daylong fencing competitions, exciting flash mobs and sports shows entertain crowds here all afternoon.
12pm - 6pm: Gallery Weekend Budapest at various venues
Between Saturday and Sunday, a total of 12 Budapest galleries open their gates to visitors for free, awaiting art aficionados with intriguing exhibits, guided tours, and plenty of exciting programs all aimed at popularizing contemporary art and Hungarian abstract art. Entry will be free to all of the participating galleries that showcase truly dazzling displays during the weekend. More details
6pm - 5am: Dub FX at Barba Negra Track
Wonderful Dub FX (aka Benjamin Stanford) is a worldwide street performer and studio recording artist from Melbourne, Australia. His trademark is creating rich live music using only his own performance aided by live looping and effects pedals combined with his voice. He creates intricate hip hop, reggae, and drum and bass rhythms.
Sunday

9am - 1pm: Budapest Half Marathon starting at City Park
Complete a half marathon alongside thousands of other eager athletes while enjoying Budapest’s scenic scenery along the way on Sunday. The race route begins at City Park (aka Városliget) and takes runners into the center of the city along Andrássy Avenue and across the Chain Bridge, providing an opportunity for athletes to admire the Buda Castle, the Parliament, and the panorama of both Pest and Buda while getting some invigorating exercise.
9am – 2pm: Szimpla Farmers’ Market at Szimpla Kert One of the most popular ruin pubs in Budapest – Szimpla on chaotic Kazinczy Street – fills up every Sunday with a friendly artisanal farmers’ market, where you can buy locally made goods and fresh produce such as fruits, cheeses, vegetables, honeys, jams, mushrooms, cold cuts, and homemade lemonades and syrups.
10am - 4pm: Kiskertpiac at Anker’t
At the eco-friendly Kiskertpiac floral fair, fragrant flowers and plants, beautiful bouquets, and gastro and design products await visitors amid an easygoing atmosphere, where enthusiastic gardeners gladly provide everyone with creative inspirations and gardening tips and tricks.
10am - 6pm: Thai Festival at the Vajdahunyad Castle
On Sunday, a truly special venue – the sylvan setting of Budapest’s Vajdahunyad Castle – introduces guests to the culture, gastronomy, and traditions of one of the most magical places on Earth, the“Land of Smiles”. Authentic Thai treats, dance performances, and box shows make you feel like you are on Khaosan Road, from where you surely will never want to go home.
5pm - 8pm: Singin’ in the Rain at the Bem Cinema
Singin’ in the Rain is one of the greatest and most successful musicals ever filmed, filled with memorable songs – one in particular that gets stuck in everyone’s head way too often – and Gene Kelly’s iconic song-and-dance routine performed in the rain. Rewatch this classic on Sunday with original English audio and Hungarian subtitles at the Bem Cinema.
