From the city’s biggest fashion week and a sparkling wine festival to literary talks, design fairs, and even a charity event for dogs, this weekend has something for everyone. Whether you want to sip, stroll, shop or dance, here’s our pick of what not to miss between 5 and 7 September.

Friday, 5 September

BAKÁTS FEST 2025

Bakáts Fest is the biggestcultural event in Ferencváros, and this year it celebrates its 10th edition. From 5–7 September, Bakáts Square and its surroundings will come alive with three days of free music and cultural programmes. Concerts, children’s activities, exhibitions, literary talks and local history walks all feature on the programme, along with slam poetry readings, dance houses and film screenings.

BUDAFOK CHAMPAGNE AND WINE FESTIVAL 2025

From  5–7 September, the Budafok Champagne and Wine Festival returns for the 35th time, having grown into one of Hungary’s mostsignificant wine-culture events. Wine and sparkling fans can visit iconic venues such as the Törley Sparkling Wine Manufacture, Sauska Winery, Katona Cellar and Záborszky Mansion.

W PRESENTS, the global electronic music series by W Hotels, is returning to Europe — bolder and more memorable than ever. On 5 September, W Budapest once again transforms into the city’s most exclusive club, hosting a live set by Berlin-based electronic artist Parra for Cuva.

BUDAPEST CENTRAL EUROPEAN FASHION WEEK 2025

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency is once again bringing  style  to the city as it hosts the 16th edition of Budapest Central European Fashion Week this autumn. From 1 to 7 September, nearly 100 Hungarian and regional designers will showcase their latest collections, accompanied by a series of fashion industry events across Budapest – from roundtable talks and showroom openings to pop-ups and special programmes.

Saturday, 6 September

INDEPENDENT LABEL FAIR 2025

The Independent Label Fair (ILF) is a platform created to showcase Hungary's independent record labels. Returning for the ninth time on 6 September, the event takes over the House of Music Hungary with a record fair, live concerts, DJ sets, an awards ceremony, exhibition openings, plus children's activities and workshops. Entry is free.

POZSONYI PIKNIK 2025

The Pozsonyi Piknik is one of Újlipótváros – and indeed Budapest's – biggest and most beloved community cultural festivals. On 6 September, the Újpesti rakpart will once again fill with a lively festival atmosphere, where theatres, stalls, concerts, family programmes, craft workshops, and plenty of gastronomy await.

ÖRKÉNYKERT FESTIVAL 2025

For the 14th time, Örkény Theatre is bringing its season-opening festival to Madách Square and Merlin. On 6 September, a colourful programme awaits, from classic and brand-new performances to exhibitions, workshops and meet-the-artist sessions. Visitors can also join yoga classes, children's playhouses, family board games, theatre quizzes and even one-minute operas.

PICI PIAC – AUTUMN DESIGN FAIR AT FÉNY STREET MARKET

As autumn begins, the first Pici Piac of the season welcomes visitors on 7 September at Fény Street Market. The fair brings together much-loved Hungarian brands and exciting new makers, all wrapped in the cosy Pici Piac atmosphere. Expect a coupon booklet with on-site discounts, fun prize draws, and limited-edition gifts created especially for the occasion – and, as always, entry is free .

WIZZ AIR BUDAPEST HALF MARATHON 2025

On Sunday, 7 September, one of Hungary's biggest sporting events – the 40th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon – will take place. The race route leads runners past Budapest's most iconic landmarks: participants will pass UNESCO World Heritage sites, historic buildings, and cross several bridges as they take on the challenge.

CHARITY DAY FOR DOGS AT MAD GARDEN BUDA

On 7 September, Mad Garden Buda and MFÖEK are teaming up to host a charity event in support of dogs in need. Visitors can browse stalls with products made especially for pups, from MFÖEK merchandise and collars to leashes, ceramics and other accessories. A roundtable discussion will also take place, focusing on adoption and temporary fostering.
