Time Out Market Budapest, the first of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, is set to open later this year inside the iconic Corvin Palace. The market will bring together the best of the city — and beyond — with 11 culinary concepts, three bars, five event spaces, and a curated calendar of cultural experiences. Today, five more exciting additions have been announced, joining a stellar line-up of chefs and restaurateurs who are helping shape Budapest’s vibrant gastronomic scene.

New additions to the Market

Joining already-announced names like Anyukám Mondta, Pingrumba and 101 Bistro, these newly revealed concepts promise to take the Market's culinary experience to another level.

CANTEEN by Pesti István – Michelin-starred comfort food

Chef István Pesti, the only Hungarian chef outside of Budapest to earn two Michelin stars, brings a brand-new concept exclusively to Time Out Market Budapest. At his restaurant Platán Gourmet in Tata, he explores abstract and innovative interpretations of Hungarian cuisine. With CANTEEN, however, he’s going back to the roots — reimagining the comforting flavours of traditional home cooking.

There's a huge demand for the kind of food our grandmothers used to make, evoking childhood memories,

he explains. The menu features beloved classics like goulash soup, Wiener (veal) schnitzel, chicken paprikash, and a classic apple pie to round off the experience. This is not fine dining — it’s soul food made with skill, heart, and heritage.

Casa Christa – Balaton flavours in the heart of Budapest

From the tranquil Balaton Uplands to the vibrant Corvin Palace, Casa Christa brings a lakeside atmosphere right to the city. Known for celebrating the essence of countryside living, the restaurant highlights regional ingredients and traditional Hungarian recipes with a fresh twist. The menu is all about evoking moments of slow enjoyment — from the sun-drenched hills and wine cellars of the Balaton region to the seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers. Whether you’re tasting a reimagined classic or a plate of freshly prepared fish, every dish carries with it the warm spirit of shared meals and scenic getaways.

Bigfish – where sea breeze meets city buzz

Bigfish is making waves at Time Out Market Budapest with a refined menu built on premium, seasonal seafood. Backed by Hungary’s largest seafood importer and wholesaler, Bigfish has access to top-tier ingredients that are rarely seen elsewhere. Their sushi selection brings the precision and freshness of Japanese cuisine to the heart of the city, using fish sourced directly from Europe’s most renowned fish markets. Other highlights include freshly shucked oysters and the restaurant’s iconic fish & chips, featuring tender, flaky fish in a golden, crispy coating. With the vibe of the seaside and the energy of Budapest, Bigfish combines quality with laid-back elegance.

Tuning Burger – award-winning bites with a gourmet twist

A pioneer of the Hungarian burger scene, Tuning Burger is now bringing its gourmet creations to Time Out Market Budapest. Known for premium ingredients and original recipes, the brand builds its flavour profile from the ground up — starting with aged meat cuts like Hungarian Grey Cattle, Angus from Hortobágy, Omaha beef, and the luxurious Wagyu. The buns are artisanal, the sauces are house-made, and the combinations are bold. Standout options include the mango chutney burger, the foie gras burger in a truffle bun, the umami burger, and the Leicester burger, which took home the title of Hungary’s Best Burger in 2016.

Wines of Hungary Bar – discover the country, one glass at a time

Operated by the Hungarian Wine Marketing Agency, the Wines of Hungary Bar offers a deep dive into the country’s diverse viticulture. Visitors can taste wines from all 22 Hungarian wine regions, guided by expert sommeliers who share personal recommendations and detailed background stories. From iconic varietals to new discoveries, the curated selection is designed to delight both seasoned wine enthusiasts and curious newcomers. To top it off, the bar will host monthly themed tasting events, giving guests the chance to explore the landscape of Hungarian wine through storytelling and hands-on experience — one glass at a time.

What else to expect?

The Market will stretch across 2,500 square metres and include communal seating, open kitchens, bars, and spaces for live events and cultural programming. Whether you come for lunch, a post-work drink or a weekend outing with friends, the space is designed to feel cosy, stylish, and welcoming.

Celebrating Hungarian talent

Time Out Market Budapest isn't just a food hall — it's a celebration of local excellence. As owner Olivér Balogh puts it,

We're proud to bring together the very best of Budapest and beyond — including names like Casa Christa from Lake Balaton and István Pesti, who's making Michelin-level cuisine accessible to everyone with CANTEEN.

Stay tuned for more vendor announcements and the official opening date — it's going to be one of the most exciting culinary openings of the year.
