Places where we can paint dreamlike designs on plain pottery are aplenty in Budapest, awaiting both beginners and handicraft experts. At MadeByYou’s two units – found on both sides of the Danube – guests can pick a piece from the abundant assortment of more than 100 different shapes, including mugs, plates, jars, teapots, vases, and many more, and enhance it with their own self-designed patterns and vibrant colors amid an inspirational and tranquil atmosphere. There are several pre-designed patterns, samples, stencils, and catalogues available at the workshops to boost your creativity, and the friendly staff is also glad to help or inspire potters anytime. To make this therapeutic session even more pleasant, they also offer guests a cup of tea or lemonade. After the potteries are painted, you have to leave them in the shop for a few days to let them get a glaze and a kiln-firing before returning to collect them.
We can also paint ceramics in the same way at Kaméleon, found on Lónyay Street, near Corvinus University, while Apacuka offers ceramics-making workshops, where we can also make the ceramics from clay before decorating them. (Unfortunately, Apacuka’s workshops are full for the rest of this year.)
Opening hours: Monday-Friday: 1pm-9pm; Saturday-Sunday: 10am-6pm
