Since its 2011 inception in Finland, the international Restaurant Day food carnival (inviting ordinary people and organizations to open a temporary eatery in uncommon locations of their hometowns) continually spreads around the globe, and is now celebrated four times every year in numerous countries, like Argentina, Uzbekistan, Canada, Tanzania, New Zealand, Thailand, Nicaragua, and many other nations – including, of course, Hungary.

Arabic Lunch

Providing Budapest with a variety of luscious flavors from the Middle East for Restaurant Day, this midday meal features both vegetarian and meat-based dishes fit for a sheikh. Hosted by PopApron, the exotic specialties include Moroccan couscous with chicken, merguez sausage, zucchini, raisins, tomato, onion, and carrots, served with mint tea.

Autumn Brunch

Ordinarily, the concept of spending Saturday at an office is a loathsome prospect, but for Restaurant Day the Király Street setting of Pest’s Loffice co-working space is transformed by Chop into the appealing locale of a fine brunch, including fruity sweets, salty snacks, and excellent egg dishes (not to mention bloody Mary cocktails and “hangover juice”).
