Sunsets, cocktails, live music and, of course, the 20 August fireworks - Budapest's panoramic terraces are worth a summer evening in their own right, but over the coming weeks, they're also lining up a few extra programmes.

We've rounded up four spots where panoramic views come with good food, creative drinks and live music this August - all great places to watch the 20 August fireworks, too.

Mystery Hotel Budapest - The Sky Garden Rooftop Teracce

Atop the Mystery Hotel Budapest, The Sky Garden Rooftop Terrace has several special programmes lined up this August. On 20 August, guests can enjoy an exclusive finger-food buffet from 7pm to 9pm, featuring contemporary takes on Hungarian classics such as Hortobágyi pancakes with confit duck, pulled pork sandwiches with red onion jam and foie gras torchon in homemade brioche, alongside desserts and a selection of drinks.

White Raven Skybar & Lounge

The 20 August fireworks are one of Budapest's most spectacular annual events, and many people look for a special spot from which to take in the show. It's no surprise, then, that tickets for the exclusive celebration at White Raven Skybar & Lounge sold out in advance again this year. The rooftop bar's special events tend to attract plenty of interest, so it's worth keeping an eye on what's coming up and securing your spot early. Beyond the 20 August celebrations, White Raven Skybar has plenty more in store for the rest of the summer. Perched on top of Hilton Budapest in the Buda Castle District, the skybar is one of the city's best-known rooftop destinations, with sweeping 270-degree views that make Budapest's sunsets and sparkling evening skyline all the more memorable. The COLORS signature cocktail collection captures the distinctive moods and shades of Budapest in a glass, while the Midnight Muse art cocktail is another creation worth trying. Inspired by visual artist Dóra Ádám's painting Black Tray, it brings a touch of contemporary art to the cocktail menu. The creative drinks are complemented by seasonal bar bites, while throughout the summer, international guest bartenders will also step behind the bar for a series of exclusive guest shifts. So don't be surprised if you pop in for one cocktail and end up staying for a long summer evening above the city.

Aranybástya

One of Budapest's most scenic panoramic spots hosts a sold-out event every year to mark the 20 August fireworks. This year, Aranybástya is celebrating with its Grill & Shine evening, combining a special terrace dining experience with carefully curated dishes, a festive atmosphere and the glittering cityscape. Set in the historic Buda Castle with Budapest stretching out below, Grill & Shine is more than just dinner - it's a full evening of celebrations, culminating in spectacular views of the fireworks from Aranybástya's panoramic terrace. The 20 August programme runs from 7pm to 11pm, with a buffet featuring Hungarian and international grilled specialities, cold dishes, fresh salads, a live grill and pasta station, sides and desserts. Drinks include Kreinbacher Prestige Brut, alongside a carefully selected range of other beverages. Live music from the Bencze Alma Quartet sets the mood for the evening, while a poolside fire show and performers dressed in mirrored costumes add an extra touch of spectacle. Bringing together festive dining, the unique atmosphere of Buda Castle and one of Budapest's most dazzling nights of the year, Grill & Shine offers a front-row seat to the celebrations - from one of the best vantage points in the city.

360 bar

High above Andrássy Avenue, 360 Bar lives up to its name with sweeping 360-degree views across Budapest, made even better by a packed line-up of music throughout the summer. Every other Wednesday from 8pm, the Jazz on the Roof series brings internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Krisztián Oláh and his special guests to the rooftop. There are also DJ sets every evening, sometimes accompanied by live musicians, while Vinyl Fridays see selected Hungarian DJs spinning records. To round off the summer in style, try the 360 Highlife signature cocktail, combining Beefeater, Aperol, Fever-Tree Raspberry & Rhubarb Tonic, basil and strawberry. Pair it with a burger, tapas or one of the season's favourites, the steak sandwich. It's not only the evenings that are worth coming for: the entire terrace is shaded by parasols, making it a great spot for an afternoon drink too. And when the sun begins to dip, you'll definitely want to stick around for the sunset. Then there's the 20 August fireworks, which you can watch from one of the best vantage points in the city, with panoramic views of the 20-minute display. Entry costs HUF 5,000 on the night and can be paid by card or cash at the venue, but booking a table in advance is highly recommended.
