Excursion to Gödöllő – the Royal Tour

The History of Hungary and the Habsburg Dynasty were intertwined through five hundred years. By the end of the tour, guests will have been acquainted with the interaction of the two cultures, and the everyday life of the noble aristocracy. The Castle of Gödöllő is one of the most remarkable castles of Hungary simply because of its size.

This is one of the biggest baroque castles in the world. This was the summer residence of Queen Elisabeth (Sissi) during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Sissi enjoyed being here; Hungarians loved her and treated her very friendly. A beautiful park was created in the Castle garden in remembrance of her sudden death. The rooms of the Castle furnished with authentic pieces and ornaments still preserve the memories of the era. It is very refreshing to have a pleasant walk in the park of the Castle after having some coffee and cakes in the Palace café. The tour ends in front of the Hotel InterContinental in Budapest.

Note: The Castle of Gödöllő is the protocol location during the Hungarian EU presidency in 2011. Because of the EU meetings, tourist visits are limited.
