The route from the Polish capital to Rijeka has been created to meet ever-growing demand from Polish tourists heading to the Adriatic during summer, reports Time Out. Polish rail operator PKP Intercity is delivering the project. The train passes through the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, and Hungary, covering a total of 1,200 kilometres.
The Budapest connection
Southbound trains depart Warsaw at 2 pm, travel through Czechia, and are scheduled to arrive in Vienna at 10 pm. There, some carriages are detached and continue separately towards Croatia.

Around midnight, the train connects in Slovenia with the overnight service called Istria, departing from Budapest, arriving in Rijeka at about 9 am.
According to eTravel, the service will accommodate 172 passengers. It runs southbound on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, whilst northbound services operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
The air-conditioned train features both sleeping cars and standard second-class carriages. The cheapest tickets cost less than €50. The first service departs on Friday 27th June, and the route is planned to operate until the end of August.
