Andrássy 150 anniversary programme series
This year marks the 150th anniversary of Andrássy Avenue, celebrated with a programme series running from 24 August to 12 September. The line-up includes exhibitions, guided walks and talks exploring the avenue's history, architecture and cultural significance, alongside mystery games, pub quizzes, picnics, family activities, cultural events, sports programmes and the TE!Feszt festival. Downtown Beer Festival 2026
This September, the Downtown Beer Festival returns to Szabadság tér for its 10th edition, bringing six days of golden pours, late-summer evenings, and one of the city's most relaxed open-air vibes. 41st Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon
On 6 September, runners will take to the streets for the 41st Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon, one of Hungary's most popular running events. The scenic course takes participants past some of the capital's best-known sights, with music points and cheering crowds adding to the atmosphere along the way.

Daytime party and community creation at Kastner Kommunity
On 4 September, Kastner Kommunity invites visitors to a party and a collaborative street-art session. Led by OPLA Projekt, anyone can get involved in transforming the advertising column on II. János Pál pápa tér, using their own stencils or paper cut-outs – no previous experience required. Meanwhile, Lahmacun DJs will provide the soundtrack, while Oatly will serve signature drinks alongside light, street-food-inspired bites. Registration is required to take part.

Budafok Champagne and Wine Festival 2026
Between 4 and 6 September, the Budafok Champagne and Wine Festival returns for its 36th edition, taking place across several locations in Budafok-Tétény over three days. Wine and sparkling wine will once again take centre stage, with a selection from Hungarian wineries accompanied by concerts, cultural programmes, market stalls and plenty of food to enjoy. Families can also look forward to playful and creative activities for children. All programmes are free to attend.

SANTSAT season closing
On 5 September, Santsat says goodbye to summer with one last outdoor gathering at Kamaraerdei Ifjúsági Park. The programme combines live music and DJ sets with yoga, a roller disco, creative workshops and outdoor activities, while Birria Taco Bar, Toldi OÁZIS and Manu+ Pizza take care of the food and drinks.

AI Summit 2026
On 7 and 8 September, AI Summit, one of Central Europe's largest artificial intelligence conferences, takes over City Park. Across three venues and ten stages, hundreds of speakers will explore some of the most important questions surrounding AI. The programme features talks, panel discussions, workshops and practical demonstrations, offering a closer look at the latest developments in the technology and its impact on fields ranging from business, finance and education to the creative industries, ethics and regulation. Speakers include Krisztián Steigervald, Tibor Kapu, Zoltán Tanács and Annamária Tari, alongside international guests such as Australia's Bryony Cole.

Józsefváros Jazz Festival 2026
From 11 to 13 September, the Józsefváros Jazz Festival returns for its sixth edition, taking place at Rákóczi tér and Rákóczi Market Hall. Alongside classic and contemporary jazz, the programme also makes room for fusion, world music and improvisational performances. The line-up includes Balázs Elemér Group feat. Andrea Malek, Canarro, Rafael Márió Trio and Oláh Dezső Vibratone Quartet, while the festival also gives emerging young musicians a chance to take to the stage. All programmes are free to attend.

On 13 September, Vintage Fashion Market takes over Klauzál Market Hall, bringing together classic and contemporary pieces, one-of-a-kind finds and vintage treasures for anyone interested in fashion and sustainability. The market gives pre-loved clothes and accessories a new home at affordable prices, while encouraging a more conscious and sustainable approach to our wardrobes. There will also be a clothing donation drive, where clean, wearable items can be donated to families in need. Admission is free.

Autumn Wekerle Garage Sale Festival 2026
On 26 September, the streets of Wekerle turn into a bustling marketplace as the Wekerle Garage Sale Festival returns for its 23rd edition this autumn. Clothes, toys, books, home décor, electronics and plenty of other pre-loved treasures will be looking for new homes, with more than 50 courtyards opening their doors to bargain hunters. Beyond the shopping, the festival is all about a friendly, community atmosphere - and it's also a great excuse to wander around the neighbourhood and discover more about Wekerle's history and distinctive character.

UH Fest 2026
From 28 September to 4 October, UH Fest returns to Budapest, bringing together more than 40 international and Hungarian artists, with performers arriving from over a dozen countries. The experimental music festival is all about pushing genre boundaries, moving between dub, hardcore, avant-garde pop and hybrid folk to noise and improvisational music. The festival also puts the spotlight on distinctive music scenes from around the world, creating a space for musical exchange across genres. This year's line-up includes Heinali & Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko, Voice Actor, Aiwa, Neti-Neti, Devon Rexi, Leila Bordreuil and Lois Viktor, among others.
