On 10 December, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon were more than ten to 20 degrees apart. In order to admire this natural phenomenon, people didn't even need binoculars, as it was visible with the naked eye.
Of the four celestial bodies, Venus is so bright that you can already see it at sunset, while Saturn comes out at dusk as its orange glow shines above like a star, although you’ll need a telescope if you’re curious about its rings. Then comes Jupiter, then the Moon.
Although this celestial reunion was most spectacular on 10 December, the path of this crescent can be observed until 4 January. Mercury will also join the three planets. For the best view of all, head to the Svábhegy Observatory (1121 Budapest, Konkoly-Thege Miklós utca 15-17).
