Multiplexes in the Cinema City chain will be reopening from Thursday, 3 June. The schedule has also been announced, with English-language screenings of ‘Nomadland’ and ‘Promising Young Woman’, both recent Oscar winners, among the films being shown. Pandemic rules apply.

Nomadland and Promising Young Woman are among the films being screened in English at Cinema City multiplexes from this Thursday, 3 June.

All spectators over 18 must hold an Immunity Certificate and may be asked to show ID. Mask-wearing will not be compulsory. The ticketing system will leave gaps between chairs in the audience.

Winning a clean sweep of Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress awards at this year’s Oscars, Nomadland stars Frances McDormand in the lead role as Fern, who decides to sell up and take to the road. Directed by Chloé Zhao, the film depicts a way of life usually associated with the Great Depression of the 1930s. Actual nomads also feature.

Starring Carey Mulligan, Promising Young Woman concerns a woman seeking revenge for her best friend’s rape and death. It gained great acclaim at Sundance 2020 and garnered a dozen or more nominations at the Oscars, Golden Globes and BAFTAs.
