In just a few years, Budapest Contemporary has become one of the city's key contemporary art events, with thousands of visitors once again expected at Bálna Budapest this year. The organisers aim to showcase an increasingly broad range of contemporary visual culture each year, while reaching new audiences alongside those already interested in art.
This year's Budapest Contemporary will be particularly diverse, as alongside fine art, the fair will also feature design, fashion and jewellery - fields closely connected to visual culture. We want to show how these different areas can respond to and inspire one another, while also reaching new audiences. BCT aims to be an important meeting point for collectors and art professionals, while offering an inspiring experience for those who are only just beginning to explore contemporary art.

Meet leading figures from the contemporary art gallery scene in person
Nearly 40 leading contemporary art galleries will present their selections at the fair, bringing key players and works from the Hungarian art scene together under one roof. Over the three-day event, visitors can explore thousands of artworks, meet gallery representatives, artists and art professionals in person, and also purchase works directly at the fair.
This year's exhibitors include acb Gallery, Einspach & Czapolai Fine Art, Kisterem, Nemes Gallery, Rechnitzer Gallery, Vintage Gallery and Zsdrál Art, among others. The Horn Collection will have its own dedicated space, where visitors can discover selected pieces from art collector Péter Horn's collection. MOME will also return to the event this year, offering a chance to discover works by a younger generation of artists. You can find the full list of exhibitors here.
A new chapter for BCT: design, fashion and jewellery
One of the biggest additions to this year's BCT is the introduction of creative fields closely connected to contemporary art, with around 40 participants joining the programme. For the first time, design and jewellery will have their own dedicated sections, while fashion will also be represented through a special programme. The aim is to broaden Budapest Contemporary into an even more diverse cultural platform, bringing fine art, design, fashion and jewellery together under one roof.
"The Collector’s Home", where art and design come together
The new design section is built around the concept of "The Collector's Home". Spread across several hundred square metres, the space recreates the fictional home of a contemporary art collector, where art, design and nature come together. The carefully curated interior will feature contemporary and vintage furniture, home accessories, pieces by young Hungarian designers, eye-catching floral installations and contemporary artworks. The space was created by design expert Judit Osvárt, editor-in-chief of ELLE Decoration, and interior stylist and designer Tímea Tóth, with a focus on showing how art and design can naturally coexist in the home.
Where fashion meets contemporary art
Fashion designer Kata Szegedi, curator of Budapest Contemporary's fashion section, is creating a special stand exploring the long-standing relationship between the KATA SZEGEDI brand and contemporary art. Rather than traditional clothing, visitors will find art objects that blur the line between fashion and fine art. The selection features works by artists who have collaborated with the brand over the years or have inspired its designers. Alongside pieces by visual artist Márton Nemes, photographer Ádám Jelen and ceramic artist Anett Sáfrán, selected bags from the brand's collection will form part of an installation bringing together the creative visions of Dani Benus and Kata Szegedi.
Close to the Body - Contemporary jewellery between sculpture and intimacy
Budapest Contemporary 2026 will also put a special focus on contemporary jewellery. At the invitation of the fair, a major exhibition featuring works by 20 Hungarian artists will be presented based on a curatorial concept by art collector Katalin Spengler. Titled Testközelben / Close to the Body, the exhibition explores the diversity and artistic freedom of contemporary jewellery, as well as its unique relationship with the body. The group exhibition will be complemented by two smaller retrospectives showcasing the work of Veronika Fábián and Flóra Vági, two internationally recognised figures in Hungarian contemporary jewellery.
Over the past few years, Budapest Contemporary has become an important cultural meeting point not only for collectors, but also for the wider public interested in contemporary art, offering plenty of ways to discover it in different forms. Across the three days, visitors can join guided tours with advance registration, professional and public programmes, as well as children’s guided tours on Saturday and Sunday from 11am.

Tickets are available online and cost HUF 5,000 per day for adults, while admission is free for under-18s.
