Song Factory Budapest continue to work
The performance industry has been hard-hit during the pandemic, with concerts cancelled and public gatherings forbidden. But the Song Factory Budapest hasn’t let that dampen their creative output in the slightest – since March, the group has released five music videos, participated in the online Summer and Winter Night of Choirs events, and according to sources within the choir, they’re already working on their next video, which they plan to release around late March/early April.
The choir is known for performing all sorts of Hungarian and international hits, gaining noticeable traction with their covers of Bagossy Brothers Company’s ‘Olyan Ő’ and 'Esti Ének’, both of which have surpassed 55,000 views on YouTube.
Their latest cover of ‘Bad Guy’ is a break from their usual feel-good repertoire, allowing the members to showcase another side of their vocal talents. The song is mashed up to an intro of Bruckner's 'Christus Factus Est', which provides a booming and august complement to the breathy vocals of Eilish's original song.
Covering Billie Eilish's 'Bad Guy'
As with their previous videos, ‘Bad Guy’ was filmed around the city of Budapest, in locations such as the spectacular Budapesti Fasori Evangélikus Egyházközség Church on Városligeti fasor, co-working space UNKA, basement cellar of the expat-friendly Hoff House, and the park at Jászai Mari tér.
Photographer and fellow member of the choir, Gábor Verőcei, documented the behind-the-scenes moments throughout the filming process, which shows the energy, enthusiasm and stamina of this dedicated group of singers.
Upcoming projects
The group meets twice a week – once for online sectionals, and once in person for a full three-hour rehearsal – where they learn the upcoming month's sheet music. Their latest project? Aerosmith's 'Dream On'. Keep an eye on the group's Facebook and Instagram accounts to watch for the next video!
