FECSKEHAJTÓ FESTIVAL 2026
The first Fecskehajtó Festival takes place on 25 and 26 September at Budai Vigadó and the surrounding area. Organised by the Hungarian Heritage House, the new two-day arts festival brings traditional and contemporary culture together, while also marking three anniversaries: 25 years of the Hungarian Heritage House, 75 years of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble and 125 years of Budai Vigadó. The programme includes concerts, dance and theatre performances, anniversary galas, guided exhibition tours, evening performances, light projections, a dance house and a musical parade, alongside craft workshops, family activities and a lively market.

ELEVEN FALL
On 25 and 26 September, Eleven Autumn returns to Újbuda with two days celebrating the district's cultural diversity. The programme includes art and literary events, exhibitions, live music, theatre, workshops and activities for families and local communities. This year's festival also puts a focus on sustainable urban mobility and greener ways of getting around. Events will take place at more than 50 venues between Szent Gellért Square and Feneketlen Lake, with galleries, cultural institutions, cafés and restaurants all joining in.

NEGRONI WEEK 2026
Negroni Week returns from 21 to 27 September, with bars serving both the classic cocktail and their own creative twists as part of the international initiative launched in 2013. More than 30 venues across Budapest are taking part this year, including ShowRum Cocktail Club, BIBO Budapest, Boutiq Bar, Hotsy Totsy, TATI Farm to Table and Time Out Market Budapest, giving you plenty of places to discover a different take on the iconic cocktail.

AUTUMN WEKERLE GARAGE SALE FESTIVAL 2026
On 26 September, the streets of Wekerle turn into a bustling marketplace as the Wekerle Garage Sale Festival returns for its 23rd edition this autumn. Clothes, toys, books, home décor, electronics and plenty of other pre-loved treasures will be looking for new homes, with more than 50 courtyards opening their doors to bargain hunters. Beyond the shopping, the festival is all about a friendly, community atmosphere - and it's also a great excuse to wander around the neighbourhood and discover more about Wekerle's history and distinctive character.

BUDAPEST COFFEE WEEK 2026
Budapest Coffee Week runs until 27 September, with more than 80 cafés, roasteries and coffee spots taking part across the city. Rather than taking place at a single venue, the week-long festival turns Budapest into one big coffee trail, with special drinks, exclusive offers, tastings, workshops and other coffee-focused experiences to discover. The Coffee Passport is also back, inviting visitors to collect stamps as they explore participating locations, complete the challenge and enter to win prizes.

TADAM DAYTIME POP-UP AT CIRCO PIZZA
On 26 September, the Tadam team takes over Circo Pizza for a daytime pop-up combining natural wines, music and dishes created especially for the occasion. Expect padron peppers with egg yolk cream and truffle oil, roast beef with spinach, pickled radish, toasted buckwheat and smoked olive oil, plus the Tadam Special pizza. The wine selection brings together Hungarian and international natural wines, poured by Sommelier of the Year Krisztián Juhász, while ĀDEM, LERM and THEFIRTH provide the soundtrack.

STEP INSIDE THE CINEMATIC WORLD OF WALK MY WORLD
If your Sunday plans call for something out of the ordinary, Walk My World at Millenáris offers a journey somewhere between theatre, contemporary circus and a real-life adventure story. Created by Hungarian company Recirquel, the 2.5-hour production unfolds across a huge, film-set-like world filled with around 40 rooms, from a bustling marketplace and mysterious labyrinth to temples, private homes and hidden spaces. There's no fixed route: you can wander from room to room, follow whichever of the 25 mythical characters catches your attention and piece together your own version of the story. With dance, acrobatics, striking sets and thousands of carefully chosen props, it's an unusual way to spend a Sunday - and very different from simply taking a seat and watching a show.

LOKOPIKNIK AND GARDEN RAILWAYS MEETING 2026
The LokoPiknik and Garden Railways Meeting returns to the Hungarian Railway History Park on 26 and 27 September, this time also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the park's garden railway. More than a dozen unusual garden railway vehicles will arrive from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia, while the star of the weekend will be the M40 diesel locomotive, affectionately known as the ‘Púpos'. Both days will also feature vehicle parades, guided tours, railway history quizzes and plenty of interactive activities for families.

OPENING WEEKEND AT THE BASEL BOATHOUSE
Bázel Boathouse celebrates its opening weekend from 25 to 27 September, with a different focus each day: Friday is aimed at those working nearby, Saturday welcomes visitors with dogs, while Sunday is all about families. The programme includes planting, workshops, a dog-and-owner photo session and communal decorating, while a mini exhibition and guided walk with owner Miklós Tömör introduce the history of the boathouse. The café and buffet will be open throughout the weekend, with tikka masala and naan on Sunday, plus a campfire, music, ping-pong and other laid-back activities by the Danube.
