Lost Budapest is an animated film series made using photos from the Fortepan communal image archive, showing features of the city no longer with us. Rather than just a simple gallery of sepia pictures, each frame of this short video has been jazzed up to bring these lost landmarks to life. The result is a walk through the past, all set to music.

Published just before Christmas, the first part of this unique video series showed the original Elizabeth Bridge and its surroundings, but now this latest clip draws on a much wider area, showing more neighbourhoods from around the capital:

Look out for the Elevátor ház on Boráros tér, the Margit Baths on Margaret Island, downtown Osztálysorsjáték Palota built with lottery money and the children’s fountain in the Tabán, an entire neighbourhood that was practically wiped off the map between the wars.
