Last year, Budapest had the honour of being selected among the Top 10 European Best Destinations. This list and competition have been helping travellers choose their next destination for ten years, but Budapest only appeared for the first time in 2018, straight away taking eighth prize. With 17,745 votes, Budapest beat Lisbon, Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Vienna, Barcelona and London. Wroclaw came first on the list.
Many people work towards making Budapest’s historical sights, exciting gastronomy, thermal waters and vibrant cultural life widely known around the world. Also vital are events such as the Spring and Summer Festivals, and CAFe Budapest, and organisations such as the Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre.
This labour of love was fruitful this year: Budapest is competing among the top 20 destinations – and now, the decision is yours. Between 15 January and 5 February, anyone can vote (only once a week from the same IP address) to make Budapest the number one European Best Destination.
And what does the competition mean for the winner? A whole year’s promotion on the European Best Destination website, in international media, on social media sites and travel pages – this year-long campaign should increase the number of tourists visiting the victorious city.
Budapest is already European Sport Capital in 2019 – vote here to make it the top European Best Destination.
