Starting today, tram 2 – frequently cited as the world’s most panoramic route – makes travelling merry in Budapest, dressing up in white- and blue-coloured LED lights. The Christmastime carriage connects Jászai Mari tér with Közvágóhíd, following the curve of the Danube the whole way, providing the most perfect riverside vistas. A journey aboard the glittering tram is accessible with regular public-transport tickets and passes. The flashy vehicles also provide shutterbugs with magical photos of Budapest.
The first Christmas tram on the number 2 line leaves at around 5pm today, 29 November, and is scheduled to carry merry crowds most Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays in December. See the full schedule here. Besides tram line 2, similarly glittering conveyances will pop up along other lines across Budapest, including trams 19, 14M, 42-50 and 69.
