Budapest’s poshest picnic, Dîner En Blanc goes down a storm

On Saturday night, a huge gourmet gathering set out for the invitation-only snow-white supper, Dîner en Blanc. This alfresco chic picnic is held every year in major capitals around the world, welcoming the elite, their guests and those from a lengthy waiting list who pay to join. Invitees, dressed in all white, are expected to bring their own food, furniture and china to a meeting point, whence they are whisked to a special location, kept top-secret till the last minute. This year in Budapest, this location was beautiful Buda Castle garden, but not long after a fancy crowd of fur, lace and all things fine arrived, dinner went down the drain as an – uninvited – thunderstorm washed everything away with it.
