If you were ever wondering how and where different Budapest generations spent their free time around the city in summer, a series of archive photos just released on public archive Fortepan should give you a few clues. Hanging out in parks and drinking on terraces are nothing new; Hungarians back in the day were just as fond of outdoor parties. Here we travel through time to present photos from Fortepan’s archive, also collated by the Facebook group ‘Budapest’s Old Pubs, Cafés and Restaurants’. Except for the outfits, these pictures could have been easily shot on a lazy Sunday afternoon last week.
