In our weekly series “The Saturday Gig”, we highlight one special performance happening on Saturday night in Budapest – if you have no plans, you do now!

Deep Ford concert at Opus Jazz Club – February 3rd, 8pm

THE BAND: Submerging into the minimalist soundscapes of jazz trio Deep Ford takes some patience, but once listeners begin to go with the flow of the group’s unpredictably sonorous voyage, their unique audio experience is exhilarating. Comprised of three French improvisational instrumentalists and composers – saxophonist Robin Fincker, pianist Benoit Delbecq, and drummer Sylvain DarrifourcqDeep Ford melds disparate melodic elements to produce one-of-a-kind songs that trickle with gentle percussions and hauntingly spare piano notes before rushing into rapids of unexpected rhythms.

THE VENUE: The thoroughly contemporary Opus Jazz Club is a popular venue for many of Europe’s most innovative musicians. Here audience members can reserve a table by the stage and enjoy drinks or a meal during the show (making it an ideal date destination), but the club also serves good-value lunch specials on weekday afternoons. Opus Jazz Club is an integral part of the Budapest Music Center, established in 1996 and based since 2013 at their restored historic building fused with sleek modern architectural elements in Pest’s District IX.

THE SHOW:Deep Ford is playing in Hungary thanks to the efforts of Budapest’s French Institute, which presents numerous cultural performances by French artists citywide. Many tickets for this concert are already reserved, so make sure to book a table as soon as possible if you are interested in attending – check out the Opus Jazz Club website for more details.
