10am - 8pm: The Champion – Interactive Sports Exhibit at Millenáris Park The Champion – a sizable interactive sports exhibit happening between January 13th-April 11th – kicks off this weekend to offer visitors countless sport games and tests at nine different stations. Mulled Wine Festival at Allee Shopping Center

During January 13-15, a Mulled Wine Festival is happening on the Buda side. Beat the cold with an impressive assortment of delicious hot drinks, including coffee concoctions, hot chocolate, special teas, grog, punch, mulled beer, pálinka, and other mouthwatering drink varieties. A wide selection of wintry meals also awaits those who wish to warm up. Entry to this festival is free.

Eine kleine Thrash Music Festival at Barba Negra Music Club
Thrash music is an extreme sub-genre of heavy metal, characterized by a fast tempo and percussive beats, as well as low-register guitar riffs. This evening, several bands from the Hungarian thrash-music scene step on stage at Barba Negra Music Club, such as Ektomorf, Akela, Bloody Roots, and Magor.

Stagediving Festival at Dürer Kert
On January 13th, 16 musical formations take over three halls at Dürer Kert, celebrating the now 12-year-old annual Stagediving Festival. The special guest of this year’s event is the Hungarian extreme-metal band Watch My Dying, but several other popular bands, such as Lost Continent, divideD, and Nova Prospect also step on stage.

Liebling Live / Canarro at
LieblingOn Saturday evening, enjoy the live performance of Canarro, the Hungarian Gypsy Swing band that is the sole representative of their genre in Hungary. Their music is centered around traditional Gypsy jazz, also known as “jazz manouche”, popularized by Jean “Django” Reinhardt, intermingled with the elements of peacetime Magyar jazz. Travel back in time to the ’20s and ’30s through dynamic and elevating jazz tunes.
11pm - 6pm:
Thissizz Way Out West at Cinema Hall
The Thissizz party series features the most popular performers of underground and electronic music at Budapest’s beloved clubs or alternative event venues. This time, Way Out West’s live gig, Jody Wisternoff’s DJ set, Metha, and Marco Grandi entertain crowds at Cinema Hall.

Budapest Trap Squad 2017 at A38

A38 Night/Life and Next Level’s party series, Budapest Trap Squad, kicked off last September with a full-house party, and has been held monthly at A38 ever since. On January 14th, the coolest DJs of the city gather together to fill A38 with their best bass music, from trap through hybrid and dubstep to bass house.

4pm - : Beginner Boogie-Woogie Workshop at Oktogon Dance CenterBoogie-woogie – a form of swing dance – is an unchoreographed competition dance, and one of the freest dance styles of all. Its essence lies in improvisation, as a true boogie dancer depicts the mood of the music with their own personality. Oktogon Dance Center launches a series of boogie-woogie crash-courses on January 15th, which will be held on Sundays over eight weeks. There are no bad moves here, as you can blame it all on the boogie!
5pm - 8pm: Scent of a Woman at Bem CinemaIn Scent of a Woman, Al Pacino portraits a dark and gloomy character, Frank Slade, who is a blind retired lieutenant colonel in the US army, impossible to get along with. A prep-school student, Charlie, agrees to take care of Frank during Thanksgiving; however, this task turns out to exceed Charlie’s expectations, when Frank decides to spend the holidays in New York, enjoying the good life. On Sunday, Bem Cinema screens Scent of a Woman with original English audio, and Hungarian subtitles.
8pm - 10pm: Liane Carroll at Budapest Jazz ClubWith her powerful voice and unique personality, English pianist and vocalist Liane Carroll always amazes her audience, and is considered one of the best jazz singers of the UK by many British jazz enthusiasts, and the favorite British performer of Budapest Jazz Club, where she returns on January 15th for a memorable performance.
