Must-see speakers at Brain Bar Budapest 2016
At the largest festival of innovative inspiration in Central and Eastern Europe, Brain Bar Budapest is happening for the second time to bring international visionaries in varied fields to Hungary’s capital for future-focused debates and brainstorming about the tech-driven changes that will soon shape our lives. During June 2-4, Brain Bar Budapest hosts presenters with unique backgrounds and expertise, like Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield (former commander of the International Space Station), British economist Tim Harford, Californian philosopher Virginia Postrel, and many other visionaries.
Among the debates to be discussed, there are topics like Earth and space, robots and creativity, human and artificialintelligence, economy and biology, knowledge and information, wars and video games, or the future capabilities of Hungary and Europe.

One of the world’s best-known advertising gurus, Sir
Martin Sorrel, will speak on Day 0. The 71-year-old professional is the CEO of Wire and Plastic Products, a marketing company worth five billion pounds with some 2,400 offices around the world. Sorrel earned renown for his spot-on 1996 predictions about the way the Internet could transform marketing.

Another promising program is the lecture of British economist and bestseller-writer Tim Harford. In one of his best-known works, The Undercover Economist, the popular writer describes how to build a thriving economy – or how to ruin one. He guides readers through macroeconomics with ease through 15 thematic chapters. He will stand on the stage of Akvárium Klub on the second day of the festival.

The world’s favorite astronaut, the former commander of the ISS, Chris Hadfield is also among the guests of the festival. He was the first man to play a concert in space, he uploaded the sound of space toilets to YouTube, he once posted to Twitter in Hungarian (about the Hungarian release of his book), and photographed LakeBalaton and Budapest from outer space... not to mention that he once entered the space station with a knife. The first Canadian who walked in space will speak at Szent István Square on June 3.
Numerous other interesting people will get on stage, like Santeri Koivisto, the CEO of Minecraft Education, Californian philosopher Virginia Postrel, government commissioner and chairman of Budapest 2024 Balázs Fürjes, founder of Future of Life Institute Viktoriya Krakovna, and Péter Besenyei, aerobatics world champion. On June 3rd, OXO Labs and LOFFICE will held pitch sessions at Brain Bar Budapest where startups will have the chance to pitch their ideas to representatives of the European tech sector. CEE Lift Off will award the best project ideas and startups with funding and other services like legal support.Just like last year, the organizers provide a limited amount of free access to Brain Bar Budapest for students and teachers.
