Light night’s tempestuous skies over Budapest – when countless lightning bolts lit up the city after midnight – renewed our appreciation for Hungarian photojournalist Zoltán Vanik, who has taken a stunning series of multiple-exposure images of the Magyar metropolis and Lake Balaton illuminated by the wrath of Zeus.
Magyar photographer Zoltán Vanik first earned global acclaim for his unique imagery of Budapest besieged by lightning when an article was posted about his work on Gizmodo.com last year, highlighting his incredible picture of a thunderstorm striking Hungary’s capital again and again (see below), captured with 61 different exposures combined into one photo. Since then, Vanik continues to catch lightning in a lens with a series of similar pictures over Hungary’s Lake Balaton (we present our favorites below), and we certainly hope that he continues this illuminating endeavor by taking more shots of thunderstorms like the one last night, all throughout the upcoming summer months!
