11pm: Incoming – Eddie C at Corvin ClubEddie C could well be described as one of the slo mo/edits/disco scene’s heaviest hitters. In just over three years he’s been featured on or been the main attraction on over 25 original EPs and singles and countless remixes. Having graced labels such as Jiscomusic, Endless Flight, Crue-L, Sleazy Beats, Wolf Music, 7 Inches of Love & Home Taping, amongst others, with his deep, lush, and beautiful grooves, C is constantly name-checked by every major playa this end of the underground. In 2011 he released his first full length album “Parts Unknown”, on Endless Flight, and later that year began releasing new projects on his own Red Motorbike imprint. The fact is, the guy hardly needs an introduction.
11.30pm: Midnight Music – Classical music for the night-owls at Millenáris Teátrum Some prefer listening to music by night, and, fortunately, there are also some who like to play music at night. It has become a tradition that the highlights of certain concerts are presented again for young audiences as late as half past 11 in the evening – after the regular concert hall performances. Midnight Music is for the open minded who enjoy the arts and exquisite experiences, and, of course, who also like staying up late. These are no ordinary concerts. They begin very late, tickets are assigned for large beanbags instead of seats, there is no dress code whatsoever, and, as well as a top-quality musical performance, the audience gets short, professional, and entertaining introductions to the pieces, facilitating a better understanding of the music. Those arriving by bicycle receive a 30% discount.
Sunday
11am: Ballet tales – Bartók: The Wooden Prince at MüPa – Palace Of ArtsIn this tale by Béla Balázs, the love between two young people can only be realized after great struggle. The Fairy’s magic sends the forces of nature to obstruct them, so that they cannot belong to one another until they have been cleansed of false external appearances that conceal their true value. Béla Bartók’s music raises this morality tale to the level of philosophy, allowing us to discover the purest ideal of love after looking into our own pained selves.
3pm: Death By Metal Festival – Kataklysm, Septicflesh, Aborted at Dürer KertThree rooms, 30 different local and foreign bands, from which are three internationally acclaimed headliners at some of the world's biggest metal festivals! Headbanging already starts from 3pm and doesn't stop until 1am.
The torchbearers of the “Northern hyperblast” genre, Kataklysm and Aborted, who mix death metal with grindcore to concoct a furious mix of blastbeats, inhuman vocals, and crushing riffs with the catchy melodic passages of their Global Flatline era will rip your head off.
Septicflesh, one of the giants of the Greek metal scene, together with bands like Rotting Christ or Necromantia, will also perform. After their hiatus, they returned as a symphonic death metal act, with a cleaner sound compared to their early materials. But after listening to their latest music, we have to say that they’ve changed for good.
