Now considered as a colorful rite of autumn, Budapest’s annual Fashion Week events are happening for the fifth time as the international expo culminates this weekend with some 50 young and talented Central European designers showcasing their cutting-edge collections in a new venue. Organized by Design Terminal, this highlight of Hungary’s haute-couture scene also features fresh-faced mavens from Serbia and Croatia, expanding the regional repertoire as Magyar models walk the runway during October 10-11.

Hungarian fashionistas and style buffs are buzzing with excitement as one of the most significant fashion events of Central Europe is now enlivening Budapest. Taking place at the elegantly restored waterfront edifice of Várkert Bazaar, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Central Europe brings gifted designers from six countries under the same roof, and features a wide range of stylish apparel and accessories. The event schedule on both Saturday and Sunday is jam-packed with intriguing shows by couture veterans and trend-setting newcomers. Audience members will be among the first to glimpse the new Spring/Summer 2016 collections created by Nanushka, ÁERON, and The FOUR, while Polish fashion brand Domi Grzybek debuts their latest items after winning last year’s contest with their collection inspired by 1960s Białystok. Carried over from last year, the theme of the event once again hones in on learning about each other, meaning that participating designers were given the challenge to be inspired by the regional cultures of the other five Central European countries represented at the event, crafting fashionable apparel or accessory collections in harmony with the most current trends of contemporary couture.

Entrants in both categories vie for glory and a business promotion package to the tune of 10,000 euros, which will comprise a customizable range of services. The work showcased by the best clothing and accessory designers of the region will be rewarded with the “CEFD Visegrád Award”, while Design Terminal will hand out its own prestigious prize – a 10,000-euro incubation program – to the most talented Hungarian entrant.
