Maybe Robbie heard that Sziget is officially Europe’s greatest summer festival and did not want to miss the gig. Or maybe not, but one thing is for sure: on August 10
Robbie Williams will perform on the Main Stage on Óbuda Island. Robbie has filled whole stadiums during his past tours, and now he's finally committed himself to some summer festival action as well. Therefore, festival-goers at Sziget (aka Szitizens) will be able to enjoy the greatest RW hits to kick things off.
“It is not easy to meet the diverse musical taste of Sziget’s audience, or to bypass the differences between domestic and international music taste, but it is safe to say that Robbie Williams is considered a superstar for both Hungarian and foreign audiences,” says Sziget's chief organiser, Károly Gerendai.
During his career so far, Robbie Williams has released 11 studio albums, and with his tours, he's slowly conquered the world, receiving 17 BRIT Awards. In 2006, he entered the Guinness Book of World Records for selling 1.6 million concert tickets in a single day. His name is also linked to the largest open-air concert: over three nights, more than 375,000 people saw and listened to him in Knebworth.
Gerendai says that because of this grand concert, there will only be 25,000 daily tickets available for the day “-1” of the festival. “The first 10,000 tickets will cost the same as an average daily ticket (18,000 HUF) while the others will cost 20,000 HUF… while supplies last,” the chief organiser says.
“For those with a weekly ticket, this concert will be a "gift”, since the seven-day pass lets them participate in this day’s events, as well,” Gerendai added. What’s more, the organisers promised additional concerts for the “-1” day, which is actually shaping up to be a day full of pluses.
