We've collected a mix of special events and timeless summer activities that make this one of our favourite times of year to be in Budapest.

Friday, 5 June

GOURMET FESTIVAL 2026

This year's Gourmet Festival is putting the spotlight on the gastronomy of the Hungarian countryside. Between 4 and 7 June, nearly 100 exhibitors - including restaurants, pastry shops, wineries, and bars - alongside tastings, culinary showcases, and special programmes will take over Millenáris. Iconic Hungarian dishes and regional ingredients will play a central role throughout the festival, with renowned chefs reinterpreting classic flavours through a contemporary lens.

HIDE BAR & CLUB

If you're looking for a Friday night venue with a little mystery, head beneath Felix Kitchen & Bar to discover Hide Bar & Club. Tucked away below street level, the cocktail bar combines creative drinks, atmospheric interiors, and late-night energy in one of the city's most intriguing hidden locations.

TILOS MARATHON 

The annual Tilos Marathon returns between 5 and 13 June, once again combining Tilos Rádió's fundraising campaign with a week-long festival at Dürer Kert. The programme features themed days dedicated to genres ranging from psychedelic music and jazz to reggae, world music, and eclectic sounds, alongside family-friendly and cycling-focused events. By purchasing a festival ticket, visitors can also support the continued operation of one of Budapest's most beloved independent radio stations.

Saturday, 6 June

ROSALIA WINE PICNIC

The Rosalia Wine Picnic returns to City Park from 4-7 June, bringing four days of rosé wines, sparkling drinks, gourmet bites, live music, and laid-back picnic vibes to the meadow behind Vajdahunyad Castle. Celebrating its 15th edition, the festival combines wine tasting with street food, family-friendly activities, and dog-friendly programmes, making it one of Budapest's most relaxed summer events.

FAMILY DAY AT BUDAPEST GARDEN

Families looking for an active day outdoors should head to Budapest Garden. Alongside playgrounds, sports facilities, and barbecue areas, visitors will find plenty of activities to keep children entertained while parents relax and enjoy the open-air atmosphere.

MAKERS' MARKET AND NIGHT VINTAGE FAIR AT HENGERMALOM

Hengermalom's industrial spaces come alive on 6 June with an evening dedicated to design, vintage treasures, and community programmes. Visitors can browse retro and second-hand finds in the courtyard, while local designers and artisan brands showcase their creations inside the silo building. DJ sets, food stalls, and drinks add to the atmosphere, and best of all, entry is free.

PICNIC ON MARGARET ISLAND OR NEHRU PART

Sometimes the best summer plans are also the simplest. Pick up fresh pastries, seasonal fruit, and something cold to drink, then head to Margaret Island or Nehru Part for a relaxed afternoon outdoors. Both spots offer plenty of green space, beautiful views, and the perfect excuse to slow down, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy one of Budapest's favourite warm-weather rituals.

LISZT PICNIC 2026

Liszt Ferenc Square once again transforms into an open-air cultural hub on 7 June as the Liszt Picnic returns to showcase the Liszt Academy's upcoming autumn season. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy performances by renowned musicians and talented students from the academy's vocal, wind, percussion, and jazz departments. Alongside the concerts, the free event also features family programmes, food and drink offerings, prize draws, and discounted ticket opportunities for the new season.

YOFÉLE MARKET AT DUGATTYÚS

On 7 June, Yoféle takes over Dugattyús, bringing its signature mix of design, creativity, and community spirit to the eclectic venue. Visitors can browse fresh collections and newly launched products from independent makers and designers while enjoying music, food, and drinks throughout the day. Among the exhibitors are Lenzi Studio, Ili Clothes, Pearly Jewels, Orobori Ceramics, and Tangly Studio, making it a great destination for anyone looking to discover local design and unique finds.

If the forecast turns rainy, consider embracing a slower pace. Browse the shelves of Bestsellers, Budapest's beloved English-language bookshop, then settle into a café such as Vaj, Lumen, or Három Holló. A good book, a cup of coffee, and a cosy corner might just be the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
