As November comes to an end, Budapest feels fully festive — markets pop up in neighbourhood squares, creative studios open their doors, and food pop-ups take over kitchens across the city. Whether you’re in the mood for design browsing, art-filled afternoons or warming bowls of ramen, here are the best events happening this Friday to Sunday.

Friday, 28 November

RÁMEN POP-UP AT FÉNY UTCA MARKET

For four days, the Fény utca Market turns into a Tokyo-inspired ramen corner as chef-author Kárai Dávid launches his new book RÁMEN with a special pop-up in collaboration with HACHI. From 26–29 November, visitors can drop in (no reservations needed) to taste three ramen dishes straight from the book — tonkotsu, chicken and creamy vegan — all cooked on-site with HACHI's signature precision.

BUDAPEST PARK ICE RINK OPENING

This winter, Budapest Park transforms once again, and from 28 November it turns into a frozen wonderland: this is when KoriPark opens, welcoming visitors with a larger-than-ever ice surface of around 2,000 square metres, open until 1 February. The Park's well-known festival atmosphere gets a winter makeover, complete with lights, music, and the impressive sight of a huge sheet of ice. Great attention is paid to the quality of the ice — a resurfacing machine regularly smooths the rink, during which skating pauses, offering the perfect moment to rest and enjoy a hot drink.

FONTFRONT 2025 – EXHIBITION AT KASTNER KOMMUNITY

FontFront is a typography competition where two redesigned versions of each letter of the English alphabet go head-to-head. This year's call received nearly 1,200 submissions, from which the two best designs per letter was showcased offline on 6 November at Kastner Kommunity. The initiative aims to highlight the creative potential of graphic design and contemporary typography. The exhibition is open until 10 December.

Saturday, 29 November

POP-UP AREPA BRUNCH AT MAD DOG HANGÁR

On 29 November, Mad Dog Hangár turns its focus to Venezuelan cuisine, with the spotlight on the beloved arepa. During this pop-up brunch, guests can try three variations of the classic dish: shredded chicken with avocado salad, shredded beef with black beans and sweet plantain, and a black bean and white cheese version. Starters include plantain chips, while desserts feature tres leches, corn sponge cake and chocolatey marquesa — all served with authentic Venezuelan drinks to round out the experience.

ART WEEKEND BUDAPEST

Art Weekend Budapest returns from 28–30 November, bringing three days of contemporary culture to nearly 50 venues across the city. Visitors can explore galleries, artist studios and alternative exhibition spaces either individually or through guided walks and curator-led tours. The event's central exhibition, Zones of Opacity, opens at Brody House, examining the boundaries of visibility and interpretation. Participation is free, though registration is recommended to secure a spot on guided programmes.

LEGO ADVENTURES AT KOCKAPARK 

For a family-friendly Saturday, head to KockaPark at Campona. The colourful LEGO exhibition features huge builds, miniature worlds and a large play area where kids (and adults) can build their own creations. It’s an easy, indoors activity that guarantees a fun, creative break in the middle of the weekend.

Sunday, 30 November

URBAN DESIGN FAIR AT KASTNER COMMUNITY

On 30 November, Kastner Kommunity hosts a Christmas design fair with a special urban theme, celebrating creations inspired by love for Budapest. Local designers and artists will showcase small-batch, often handmade pieces that reflect the city's iconic buildings, streets and stories. Visitors can browse unique design objects, timeless artworks, prints, posters, books and publications – all centred around the charm and character of Budapest.

GREEN MARKET CHRISTMAS FAIR AT KLAUZÁL SQUARE HALL

The beloved Green Market returns to the Klauzál tér Market Hall for a festive edition on November 30, December 7, and December 14 (10 am – 5 pm). Browse through handcrafted gifts, sustainable products, vintage finds, natural cosmetics, and delicious artisan treats — all from local creators. With live music, family activities, and a vintage clothing market in the courtyard, it's the perfect cozy spot to shop, connect, and get into the Christmas spirit. Entry is free.

BREAKFAST TAKEOVER AT EGGDROP

Eggdrop kicks off its new Project Invites series on 30 November, when guest chef Szucsik Jani takes over the kitchen for one day only. Expect two exclusive “Japan meets Korea” specials, the premiere of Eggdrop’s new sweet toasts, and Japanese city-pop vinyls from DJ Total Commander. The event starts at 9 am — drop in early for a unique breakfast collaboration.
