Budapest's mid-June weekend is packed with exciting programmes. From cultural festivals and sporting celebrations to adoption days and open-air markets, here are some of our favourite events taking place between 12 and 14 June.

Friday, 12 June

NIGHT OF MOVEMENT 2026

On 12 June, the Night of Movement returns to Heroes' Square and City Park, offering visitors the chance to try a wide range of sports and activities, from zumba, yoga, and spinning to martial arts. Water enthusiasts can give SUP, kayaking, canoeing, and dragon boating a go, while thrill-seekers can test themselves on a giant climbing wall. The programme also includes night running, rollerblading, cycling and walking tours, alongside floorball, korfball, street hockey, and badminton, making it one of Budapest's most active and energetic summer events.

GIN MARKET 2026

Celebrate World Gin Day at the 5th Gin Market Budapest, taking over Városháza Park for two days of tastings, live music, and summer festival vibes in the city centre. More than 40 stands will showcase premium Hungarian and international brands, while visitors can enjoy masterclasses, concerts, and opportunities to meet industry experts. Each ticket includes a tasting glass, five tasting tokens, and access to the festival's full programme.

TILOS MARATHON 2026

The annual Tilos Marathon returns between 5 and 13 June, once again combining Tilos Rádió's fundraising campaign with a week-long festival at Dürer Kert. The programme features themed days dedicated to genres ranging from psychedelic music and jazz to reggae, world music, and eclectic sounds, alongside family-friendly and cycling-focused events. By purchasing a festival ticket, visitors can also support the continued operation of one of Budapest's most beloved independent radio stations.

Saturday, 13 June

BÁRKA FESTIVAL 2026

The Bárka Festival celebrates the cultural diversity of Budapest's 11th District, showcasing Bulgarian, Roma, Greek, Croatian, Polish, German, Armenian, Romanian, Rusyn, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian and Ukrainian traditions. The event will be held for the fourth time on 13 June.

SHUK SHUK DESIGN MARKET AT ESTE11

The summer season opener of the SHUK SHUK Design Market arrives at the garden of Este11 on 13 June. Alongside its familiar community of creatives, this year's event welcomes new exhibitors, with 16 Hungarian designers showcasing their work in one place. Visitors can browse a diverse selection of products, including upcycled clothing, ceramics and jewellery, featuring creations from brands such as Kamay Ko, Málna, Rucicis and Lenzi Studio.

CHARIOT FESTIVAL 2026

On 13 June, the Chariot Festival will make its way through the streets of Budapest for the 30th time. As part of the Krishna devotees' traditional Ratha Yatra celebration, the colourful procession will depart from Eötvös Square and head towards City Park, accompanied by musicians and dancers along the route.

Sunday, 14 June

MFÖEK PET ADOPTION DAY AT KŐLEVES KERT

On 14 June, the team behind  Mindenki Fogadjon Örökbe Egy Kiskutyát (MFÖEK) will host a summer adoption day at Kőleves Kert. Alongside the dogs looking for their forever homes, foster carers will also be present to answer questions about both the adoption process and the organisation's work.

THE SIP CLUB WINE TASTING AT THE GARDEN

The Sip Club is a relaxed, English-language wine club held at The Garden, where shared experiences, slowing down and discovering new flavours take centre stage. On 14 June, the club's Orange Edition will invite guests to taste five different natural skin-contact wines, paired with a vegetarian Turkish-style communal dinner.

Budapest Book Week

The 97th edition of the Festive Book Week, Hungary's largest open-air celebration of contemporary literature, returns to the heart of Budapest from 11-14 June. Taking over Vörösmarty tér, Vigadó tér, and the Danube Promenade, the four-day event will bring together more than 170 exhibitors, alongside author talks, book signings, and live music performances. Whether you're searching for your next favourite read or hoping to meet beloved authors, this long-standing literary festival promises plenty of inspiration in a vibrant riverside setting.
