Centrál Coffee House
Centrál Coffee House is a compulsory item on our list. It has been operating since 1887 and their idea of providing Sunday brunch is quite outstanding from the morning meal offers of the city. On weekdays, they definitely have fresh croissants, baguettes, and yoghurt.

Culinaris - Hunyadi tér
Culinaris can be now found in three different places in Budapest. This place is the Mecca of specialties and herbs. There are delicious dishes from all over the world that we are able to taste as breakfasts as well. Soft-boiled eggs are organic, we can ask for an omelet with avocado, pesto or smoked salmon toppings. Dorset wholegrain muesli comes with organic Alpine milk and Greek yoghurt. Need more?

Dunapark Kávéház
Dunapark is also represented in the ‘breakfast category’ from 8 am. The menu is exactly what we expect from an elegant place like this, loin carpaccio, club sandwich with goose liver or lamb panini. If you are not brave enough in the morning, you can also choose from continental or American fitness menu. The coffee is well worth getting up a little earlier.

Fruccola
Fruccola is a colorful place so it perfectly stands out from the ‘white shirt – black suit invasion’ of Arany János Street in the morning. They definitely know the secret. They know that we like fresh fruit, salad, good coffee, yoghurt and imagination. The place opens at 7 am and at this time of the day, it is much better than any other place of this kind. Milk shakes, fizzy fruit juices, organic drinks, fruit salads are the best for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is special milk for people having lactose intolerance and of course for everybody. The place is young, fresh and colorful without a fault.

Gerlóczy Café
We think everybody knows Gerlóczy Square in the heart of the city. Gerlóczy Café is love at first sight with its French elegance on the corner of the square. It is the best at 7 o’clock in the morning with birds singing. Soft aubergine cream, French toast, fresh bakery, pancakes, and waffles are for everybody wanting to enjoy a nice meal in the morning. It would be a perfect fairy tale, if waiters were a little nicer and slow service did not upset us early in the morning. If you feel like having a splendid breakfast and you have enough time, you must be there.

Pastrami
Pastrami, the favorite place of the locals in the 3rd district, is a real jewel in Budapest. From 8 am, you can have continental and English breakfast in the restaurant, which was a factory many years ago. Do not expect much more above this. You are at the right place if you would like to stare at the colorful world around but you do not wish to spend the top minutes of your ‘gastro-tour’ here. Ambitious staff, young freshness and the desire to fulfill your needs, which is not experienced in many other restaurants of Budapest.

Sarki Fűszeres
We always liked those ‘corners’ close to us and giving us food if we do not feel like cooking. This is the basic idea of Sarki Fűszeres (literally means ‘grocer on the corner’) who is always a best friend in need. Indeed! They provide French, Italian, Hungarian, Spanish wine, ham and salami specialties, herbs, vinegar, oil, honey and pálinka. It is a real treasure. They are said to fulfill the needs of a local micro-community so they have introduced their gourmet business. Why is it good for us? Because we can have a good breakfast here. The place is the best example for the symbiosis of a shop and a bar in the 13th district. And breakfast is awesome.
