As summer slowly fades into golden autumn, Budapest’s September calendar is packed with festivals, design fairs, sporting challenges, cultural days, and foodie adventures. Here’s your guide to the best events and activities to enjoy this month.

 Budapest Central European Fashion Week 2025

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency is once again bringing style to the city as it hosts the 16th edition of Budapest Central European Fashion Week this autumn. From 1 to 7 September, nearly 100 Hungarian and regional designers will showcase their latest collections, accompanied by a series of fashion industry events across Budapest – from roundtable talks and showroom openings to pop-ups and special programmes. This year's BCEFW presents the spring/summer 2026 collections, where some of the best-known Hungarian and regional designers will share the stage with the new generation of talent.

Pozsonyi Piknik 

The Pozsonyi Piknik is one of Újlipótváros – and indeed Budapest's – biggest and most beloved community cultural festivals. On 6 September, the Újpesti rakpart will once again fill with a lively festival atmosphere, where theatres, stalls, concerts, family programmes, craft workshops, and plenty of gastronomy await.

Pici Piac – Autumn Design Fair at Fény Street Market

As autumn begins, the first Pici Piac of the season welcomes visitors on 7 September at Fény Street Market. The fair brings together much-loved Hungarian brands and exciting new makers, all wrapped in the cosy Pici Piac atmosphere. Expect a coupon booklet with on-site discounts, fun prize draws, and limited-edition gifts created especially for the occasion – and, as always, entry is free.

Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon 

On Sunday, 7 September, one of Hungary's biggest sport events – the 40th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon – will take place. The race route leads runners past Budapest's most iconic landmarks: participants will pass UNESCO World Heritage sites, historic buildings, and cross several bridges as they take on the challenge.

AI Summit Budapest 2025

On 8–9 September, Budapest hosts the AI Summit, tackling the central question: what will the world look like when humans and machines shape the future together? The programme spans more than ten thematic sections, covering everything from generative language models, healthcare breakthroughs, and financial automation to space exploration, defence, and smart cities. Topics also include AI tutors in education, generative art, autonomous systems, and the human–machine collaboration of Industry 5.0. With over 300 speakers, roundtable discussions, and interactive workshops, the summit offers a deep dive into the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence.

Kraft Beer Festival

Kraft Beer Festival is back from 11–14 September, taking over Dürer Kert with the freshest and most exciting brews from both local and international breweries and beer shops. The goal? To showcase the diversity of craft beer culture – whether you're new to tasting or a seasoned sipper, you'll find plenty to love. Alongside the foamy fun, expect live concerts, DJ sets, and tasty street food to keep the vibes going. Entry is free, but you'll need a festival glass and tokens to join the tasting.

Budapest Wine Festival

One of Hungary's most iconic events, the Budapest Wine Festival, returns this autumn to celebrate wine, elegance, and gastronomy – and you're invited. For over 30 years, this beloved festival has brought people together in the historic setting of Buda Castle, offering a unique mix of tradition, culture, and flavours.

From 11 to 14 September, raise a glass to the end of summer while soaking up panoramic views of the Danube, sampling world-class wines, and enjoying great company.

POV Budapest

This year, POV Budapest invites all lovers of visual culture for an inspiring weekend packed with talks, workshops, and creative energy. On September 11–12, the National Dance Theatre will host international speakers, panel discussions and hands-on sessions — including a keynote by OpenAI, the company behind the world-famous ChatGPT.

Hungary's most exciting designers and studios will also take the spotlight on a free-access side stage throughout the weekend. The programme continues on September 13–14, when the focus shifts to various locations across the city with open house tours, guided design walks, exhibitions, a designer fair, and even a closing party.

Makers' Market

Budapest's favourite design fair is back! Makers' Market returns to Fény Street Market on 14 September, filling the hall with more than ninety local makers and their beautiful creations. From contemporary jewellery and ceramics to textiles and home décor, you can browse, chat with the designers, and treat yourself to coffee, pastries, and other sweet temptations.

Cars & Coffee Hungary 

Cars & Coffee Hungary 2025 is back with its biggest line-up yet, bringing together 200 cars and 400 enthusiasts for one unforgettable day. Set in a stunning venue, this community event is the perfect chance for car lovers to admire rare models, share their passion, and connect over coffee.

Time Out Market Budapest opening

After months of anticipation, Time Out Market Budapest has finally revealed its opening date: on 20 September, the historic Corvin Palace on Blaha Lujza Square will once again come to life – this time as a buzzing hub for food, drinks and culture.This will be the very first Time Out Market in Central and Eastern Europe, following the footsteps of Lisbon, New York and Dubai. The concept is simple: gather the very best of the city under one roof – from Michelin-starred chefs and much-loved local gems to exciting cultural programmes and lively bars. As the September days turn cooler, it’s the perfect time to slow down with a good book in one of Budapest’s many cosy cafés. From snug corners in speciality coffee shops to grand historic cafés, the city offers plenty of spots where you can sip, read, and watch the world go by.

Budapest Cultural Heritage Days

Once a year, Budapest opens the doors to some of its most beautiful—and usually hidden—buildings for Cultural Heritage Days, part of the Europe-wide celebration of architectural heritage. This year, on 20–21 September, you'll have the rare chance to explore landmark interiors, hidden courtyards, and historic institutions that are typically off-limits.
