One of the most important
ambitions
of
Peter and Irene Ludwig
,
founders of Ludwig Museum, Budapest
was to fulfil by their cultural activity a mediating role between the former East and West. From 1979 onwards, the couple paid visits regularly to the one-time Soviet-Union where they began to purchase and collect consistently and consciously
artworks
representing the development of
Post-Stalinist Soviet-Russian art
. By the present exhibition the Ludwig Museum intends to present this, in its own time rather unique collecting activity, based on its own collection containing some dozens of
Ex-Soviet
artworks
never shown
in a similar context to the public before.
