According to a recent UK travel report, the Hungarian capital is the best-value summer city break this year.

We’ve always known that Budapest is a gem – but now it’s official. In a recent travel roundup by Time out, Budapest has been crowned Europe’s most affordable summer destination, beating out favourites like Prague, Porto, and even the Spanish coast.

According to a recent report, Budapest came in as the number one cheapest capital to visit for UK travellers. Average flights from the UK cost just £83, while a week-long hotel stay for two totals around £536. Once you're here, the savings keep on coming: a delicious sit-down meal costs around £8.28, a pint of beer averages at £2.07, and public transport tickets are under £1. With numbers like that, you'll feel like royalty while wandering past Parliament or gazing up at Buda Castle from the banks of the Danube.

And what better way to spend those extra pennies than soaking in one of Budapest's famous thermal baths? Head to Rudas, the 500-year-old spa nestled along the riverside, where you can dip into hot pools, sweat it out in a sauna, and cool off in a plunge pool – all without splashing too much cash. Feeling fancy? Book a massage or sip a lemonade on the spa's rooftop terrace with postcard-perfect views of the city.

Add to that a new Time Out Market opening in the city this year, and you've got plenty of reasons to put Budapest at the top of your summer travel list. Affordable, vibrant, and effortlessly beautiful – our city truly delivers the full package.

So if you needed another excuse to visit (or fall back in love with) Budapest this summer – this is it.
