Orchid and Bromeliad Exhibition 2025

If you're a plant lover and appreciate breathtaking blooms, mark your calendar! From 20-23 March, you can step into a world of vibrant tropical colours and discover nature's most dazzling wonders – orchids and bromeliads. Explore unique species, and let yourself be swept away by the enchanting beauty of these flowers at the Museum and Library of Hungarian Agriculture in the Vajdahunyad Castle. The 2025 Spring Orchid Exhibition invites you 'Around the World with Orchids,' showcasing exotic landscapes through stunning blooms, with Brazil as this year's guest of honour.

World Tiramisu Day at Giulia

Tiramisu is one of the world's most beloved desserts – and for a good reason. It's even got its own dedicated day (21 March), celebrated since 2017. This Friday, chic Italian eatery Giulia is marking the occasion with a twist on the creamy classic, adding tart raspberry and rich pistachio to the mix.

Exhibition – Barnabás Friedrich: Eastern Europe is my hood

21 March is your last chance to catch Barnabás Friedrich's first solo exhibition at cultural space PikszisEastern Europe is my hood offers a sharp, ironic take on the region's past and present, drawing inspiration from Hungarian rapper Curtis's track Újpest a negyedem (Újpest is My Hood). Through his paintings, Friedrich both embraces and critiques the sociocultural landscape he portrays, presenting a disenchanted Wunderkammer that lays bare the realities of life in Eastern Europe.

Ide Süss Manufaktúra, a charming bakery and coffee shop in Buda, is stepping things up this Friday with a cool food-and-drink pairing. From 2 pm to 1 am, their Margit Quarter shop will be serving up a delicious duo: pulled pork and Moscow Mule for HUF 3,500. All this while a DJ sets the vibe in the background.

Brit Film Days

Brit Film Days is coming to one of the world's most beautiful cinemas in March! And it brings with it four days of British film culture offering a fresh and diverse selection. You can catch 8 films – contemporary British festival favourites, two eye-opening documentaries, and a pair of 2000s classics that capture the legendary Manchester music and club scene. The lineup? 24 Hour Party People, Bird, Control, Harvest, I Am Martin Parr, The End, The Outrun, and Witches. Catch them all between 20 and 23 March.

Big Fat Tattoo Weekend

The Big Fat Tattoo Weekend is all about shining a spotlight on the Hungarian underground tattoo scene for an entire weekend. From 21-23 March, nearly 30 tattoo artists will take over 400 square meters of Nyolcésfél. But it's not just about ink – there will be exhibitions, workshops, and concerts too. Plus, on 22 March, Teufel, which officially launches in May, will kick off in test mode with a laid-back party featuring food, drinks, and live performances.

Madách Flea Market - Vintage Special

If you like hunting for treasures, especially if they are vintage, head to the gate of Budapest's Jewish District and browse on Madách tér. The flea market will be open from noon to 5 pm, giving you enough time to both shop and neck a spritzer in one of the surrounding bars.

If Nintendo, Discman, Nokia 3210, MSN, Friends, Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, and the Backstreet Boys give you a rush of nostalgia, there's no doubt – you're a true 90's kid. And if you are, you won't want to miss the upcoming '90s party at downtown Ötkert, where the best bangers of the decade will keep you dancing all night. Time to lace up those dancing shoes!

ReMarket Flea Market

If you're a fan of vintage treasures, set off on an adventure at ReMarket's upcoming flea market, popping up on 22 and 23 March. The location, Budafok, might not be central (hop on bus 133E at Astoria station), but this is where the map marked the hidden gold. And by gold, we mean gorgeous antique homeware, books, vintage furniture, clothes, accessories, paintings, frames, and other goodies awaiting their second life. The best bit is that while shopping and saving an old piece, you also do something nice for Mother Earth. So browse away!

Japan Day at the House of Music Hungary

The stunning House of Music Hungary is a must-see in itself – but on 23 March, it becomes an even more irresistible destination as it hosts Japan Day, together with the upcoming Osaka Expo. You can immerse yourself in Japanese culture through three concert hall performances: A Stormy Night, a matinee concert at noon; TAMAKKO-ZA, a dynamic blend of drums and drama at 2 pm; and KIZUNA, an electrifying concert at 4 pm. Beyond the music, a range of free or free-to-attend activities will be available, all in Hungarian and requiring registration.

Budapest Roller Disco x Turbina

8th district cultural centre Turbina is ready to roll this Sunday! They're hosting a roller disco, where you can dance the night away in – you guessed it – roller skates. For music, you'll be treated to retro Hungarian hits, locals will likely sing along. Not too confident on skates? Join a workshop (or two) before the party and get some practice in.
