Tasty fish dishes, cold drinks and live music await at Evezős Sörkert on Római-part

At Evezős Sörkert, the Danube is a stone’s throw away, the views are splendid, the dishes are amazing and towering trees provide ample shade. No wonder the place has been a go-to spot for locals on Római-part for over 40 years – a restaurant and beer garden has been operating here since 1983.

A Hungarian family, the Farkas family ran Evezős for more than 30 years, but in 2017, they decided to step down and let the Eventrend Group take over, who slightly reimagined this iconic place – the same group that is responsible for the management of two other legendary Hungarian establishments, the recently renewed Gundel Restaurant and Centrál Café.

A friendly atmosphere and laid-back vibes

You’ll often find families, groups of friends, and bikers at Evezős Sörtkert, enjoying traditional homemade dishes, the friendly atmosphere, and green scenery. If you're up for experiencing Hungarian retro vibes in a modern setting, to Evezős Sörkert it is!

"Though we kept the original, traditional building, it was important for us to create a fun, friendly, colourful and laid-back place where people will enjoy hanging out, whether they only come for a drink or a traditional meal." – the new CEO, Gábor Kusnyár tells us.

At Evezős Sörkert, you can take a seat on the colourful furniture and enjoy a cold drink in the shade provided by towering trees and sunshades, surrounded by green plants and the serene riverbank. The place is fun and chilled, and traditional but trendy at the same time.

Fish dishes galore

If you’d like to try good Hungarian hake (fried fish), this is definitely the place to go.

Just like other fish dishes, hake, which is crunchy on the outside and melt-in-the-mouth within, is fried fresh on the spot. We also recommend to try the trout or the traditional and tasty fish soup that comes served with a generous slice of bread. If instead of traditional dishes you’re after something else, Evezős has still got you covered. They also serve fresh salads and meat dishes that you can have with chips or sweet potatoes on the side.

"When it comes to fish dishes, we also have something special up our sleeve – we serve crab tempura and calamari fritti fresh and made according to our own recipe. For those that want to taste the best of our fish selection, we recommend our Evezős Fish Basket that comes with different kinds of fish and homemade sauces. It definitely won’t disappoint." – adds Head Chef Ferenc Móra.

The dessert selection is ever-changing, but we recommend you try some scrumptious Hungarian pancakes or túrógombóc (sweet cottage-cheese dumplings).

If you only pop in for a drink, you can enjoy cold craft beers, wine spritzers, lemonades, long drinks and great wines in the garden.

At Evezős, live music often fills the air in the evenings, so a bit of dancing is part of the fun on the weekends.

"We try to offer all kinds of music from jazz to Latin and pop tunes and invite more and more young acts as well. Retro parties still take place once a month as these are always super popular. – concludes Manager Gergő Bencze.
