Hungarian Ice Cream Day
8 May is the perfect day to set off on an ice parlour tour – if you're as much of an ice cream aficionado as we are. Several shops are about to offer their scoops at half price to celebrate the Hungarian Ice Cream Day in style! And the date isn't random either; there's a playful twist to it. The Roman numeral for May, 'V', looks like a cone, while the 8 resembles two scoops of ice cream when turned on its side. And the goal? To spotlight locally made, high-quality ice cream and the small businesses behind it, while turning the event into a fun community happening.

Where to claim your half-price dessert in Budapest?
From minimalist Csöpi Fagyi on the Buda side to the over-the-top sweets heaven SUGAR! shop and the central Strudel Garden Café & Bakery near the Opera House, you can enjoy cooling treats at 33 locations across the city. Check out the full list here (scroll down).
And it's not just Budapest, by the way. If you head out on a day trip to Vác or Budaörs, for instance, you'll come across participating ice cream parlours there too. Part of the deal is that all shops must offer at least four flavours at half price. Not a bad plan for 8 May, hey?
