Watch the Hungarian film On Body and Soul at the cinema

On Body and Soul is a Hungarian drama film from 2017. It won the Golden Bear and was nominated for the Oscar, so we would not miss its reappearance at Toldi Cinema (9:45 pm). It will come with original audio and English subtitles.

"When slaughterhouse workers Endre and Mária discover they share the same dreams, where they meet in a forest as deer and fall in love, they decide to make their dreams come true, but it's difficult in real life."

Visit the Ludwig Museum

The ongoing exhibition of the Ludwig Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art –  is a solo exhibition by Zsófia Keresztes, called After Dreams: I Dare to Defy the Damage. It seeks to explore the ambivalent relationship of past and present to the future and the stages of finding identity.

Hunt for vintage clothes at Budapest's famous ruin pub

Head to Budapest's most iconic ruin pub, Szimpla Kert, but forget the beer this time. Instead, browse a great selection of vintage and recycled clothes and accessories. The event is not only about shopping though. It is also a meeting place for like-minded people who stand for sustainability.

Celebrate MONYO Brewing's 8th birthday with a free beer

The brewery MONYO Budapest celebrates its eighth birthday with a party and beer premiere at their taproom in Kőbánya. You might need to travel a bit, but as a 'thank you', the MONYO guys will welcome you with a free beer, and food will also be available to buy (grill dishes made by using different kinds of MONYO beers). Live acoustic music will be played by Laci Sallai, followed by a DJ set.

Everybody, rock your body at Akvárium Klub

Make the Spice Girls proud and dance the night away to the best hits of the ’90s & ’00s. Britney, Shakira, the Backstreet Boys and Destiny's Child will very likely join the party at Akvárium Klub too. The motto: pop, glitter and freedom.

Sunday, 15 January

Have a family day at Budapest Park's Ice World

Crowd-favourite concert venue Budapest Park turned into a winter wonderland for the season. It has a 1500-square-metre big ice rink in the middle and dazzling lights around it. You can rent skates, draw figure eights and drink hot cocktails every day, but this Sunday, a Petit Party is added to the list of programmes. This means that between 10 am and 3 pm, children will be the focus of attention. Besides the usual play corner, they can join fun activities, such as making carnival masks and ornaments from recycled bits or getting glitter tattoos.

More info here. Get tickets on the Hungarian website or at the ticket office.

Food shop at Pancs farmers' market

Get ready to fill your tote bag with local goods such as seasonal fruits, veggies, cheese, ham, salami, bread, syrups, jams, juices, and wine at Élesztőház's upcoming farmers' market. The courtyard turns into a buzzing marketplace every Sunday (between 9 am-2 pm) to give space to Hungarian producers. Also, a special guest is invited from the world of gastronomy to host a community cooking, using ingredients supplied by local producers.
