The long-discussed cable car up to Citadella atop Gellért Hill will now not be built after all. After 13 years of discussion, the City has withdrawn from the project, which apparently had been given the green light last November.
Planned to glide from the Rác Baths up to Citadella, a cable car will now not be built despite all signs to the contrary before Christmas.
The City of Budapest has pulled out of the project, initially discussed as long ago as 2009. Their decision should not affect another initiative earmarked for Citadella, a museum detailing Hungary’s struggles for freedom.
