With the slight chill of autumn soon upon us, an input of healthy energy is always welcome. The Açai Spot, newly opened in Buda, should help provide this, offering all kinds of combinations made from this fruit of Amazonian palms, rich in complex vitamins C, K, B and antioxidants.

The Açai Spot was founded by Brazilians in 2015 in Dubai. The franchise has nine stores worldwide, developing a loyal customer base of 'açaiholics'. Now a tenth has just opened at Hegyvidék shopping centre in Buda.

A dark purple berry native to the Amazon region, açaí has a number of beneficial physiological effects. Blueberries are an exotic relative, similar in taste, lowering cholesterol, and rich in complex vitamins. The berries cannot normally be stored for long periods of time, so most açaí products available in Europe are made from dried fruit powder.

The special feature of The Açai Spot is that the healthy fruit paste comes in the form of fresh açaí sorbet, which is not only healthier, but also significantly stronger and tastier. This purple sorbet base can be combined with high-quality, fresh fruit and locally made granola, peanut butter or dried pomegranate seeds, all with no additives.

This base is available in four sizes at prices ranging from 2,090 forints to 4,190, and extra elements can also be requested.

Decorated with simple, bright colours, natural materials and plentiful greenery, both the interior and the terrace encourage you to sit down and enjoy the moment, but if you’re short on time, the açai bowl is an energy bomb that can be transported, assembled and consumed quickly. This allows you to refuel for a long working day or make up for the energy you might lose in the gym or on the tennis court.

If you prefer something savoury rather than a berry superfood, you can choose from a number of vegan or vegetarian wraps, sandwiches and salads, alongside a specialty coffee and cereal milk.

The salmon bagel (HUF 3,490) is the perfect fast brunch, featuring premium Scottish smoked fish, lettuce, cream cheese and cheese, perfectly complemented by pickled peppers and pears.

The crispy croissant sandwich (HUF 2,450) made from whole-wheat flour is also delicious, and for those who want a quick, healthy and nutritious lunch, a large Avo Spot salad (HUF 4,190) with fresh baby spinach, coriander, cherry tomatoes and sweetcorn should hit the spot.

For healthy comfort food, the Cheese Buns come in pieces of four or seven (HUF 1,290-2,590), the crispy exterior paired with a warm, fragrant and runny cheese interior. There will also be a special daily offer from September.
