As we reported earlier, a cable car is being planned for Citadella atop Gellért Hill, offering visitors the chance to glide up the slope with ease and avoid the calf-crunching climb from Sánc utca, the last stop on the bus 27 route. This new attraction would also reduce the number of tourist buses winding slowly round the hill and parking at the top.
Now these plans have become more concrete. The lower terminus will open beside the Rác Baths, soon to be renovated, and the line would run up to Orom utca, head underground for 100 metres, before climbing to the upper terminal on a track 4.5 metres high. This is Citadella sétány, the promenade around the former Habsburg fortress.
