This Saturday, 3 July, SHO Beach opens at Lágymányosi Bay, with chilling by day and fun by night. Although the nearby recreation zone of Kopászi-gát is a fairly recent phenomenon, this part of Budapest is not new to leisure.
In the early 1900s, there was a popular beach at Lágymányosi Bay, which didn’t disappear during World War II, but rather during the time when the Danube became too polluted to swim in. More recently, with the city’s newest quarter being built here, revered live venue Dürer Kert set up its new location here.

As for SHO Beach, there’ll be waterfront cafés and lunchtime deals during the day, then cocktails under the stars by night. The SHO Chill & Grill beach bar offer dishes suited for summer outdoor dining, while acclaimed restaurant MÁK will have a pop-up outlet here. Plus, of course, there's swimming…
As summer rolls on, there will be cultural evenings, gastronomic gatherings, wine and pálinka tastings, plus live sports broadcasts, with the Tokyo Olympics less than a month away.
