Hungary’s national stadium, the Puskás Aréna, soon to see top-quality action when co-hosting football’s Euros in June, is also now encouraging all visitors to take part in outdoor activity thanks to fitness and play amenities just opened alongside.

Anyone who visits the Puskás Aréna these days can use the street workout equipment, two running tracks and, for younger ones, two playgrounds. Other recent additions include a skate course, a fountain and many newly planted trees.

Two running tracks have been set up in the arena’s green surroundings, one behind the stadium, winding around sports fields, the other alongside the renovated Dromosz Sculpture Park dating back to the 1950s, and ideal for jogging.

At one end, a gigantic Puskás inscription serves as a selfie spot, behind which terracing has also been built, so in future the area may be suitable for events, concerts and match broadcasts on giant projectors.

This is only the first phase in making the complex open to all. The second, after the football tournament is over in July, involves sports courts for basketball, handball, rollerblading, table tennis and tennis. The park is dog-friendly and is open from 6am until 10pm.
